I'm finally at that 90k miles point on my 2009 2.7L 6 lug Prerunner. I haven't done much to the truck other than the usual fluid changes and brakes. Was wondering what all of you decided to do at this 90k mark. In the manual it says it's time for that big tune up, but what did you guys end up doing at this mileage mark?

Sorry, couldn't resist. :) Back to the original thread now. LOL.

OP, do you have your owner's manual? I think it lists what service is called for at the different mileage intervals.

Well the simple air filters have been changed out in the intervals recommended. I think it might be time to the fuel filter tho. And definitely plugs. No comment on the shaft ;)

I do have an OP manual and I see all those things listed but I was trying to get a feel for what's realistic at this point. I'm considering selling the truck after the tune-up.

I think the fuel filter is the the gas tank...could be wrong. Anyone?
I'm coming up on 90k in about 6 months. Other than AT drain and fill I'm gonna do the standard stuff. Oil and filter change, cabin air filter, engine air filter, clean the MAS and throttle body and call it a day. Depending on mileage you may have to change the plugs and differential fluid. If you've been keeping up with your maintenance, and it sounds like you have, you should be good.

Do you tow a bunch or place your vehicle
Under heavy loads often without the tranny cooler? If not forget about a tranny flush you will do more harm than good.

I started looking for a new truck, my goal was sell it before it turned 100k. I did the same with the 2 before that, the resale value and the ease of finding a buyer was my goal. Sure it will last much longer, but other little things start to go and need replaced, so I opted for taking advantage of the resale and putting money into a new truck. It ends up being a math and money solution/decision.

I take a very similar approach, but set the mark at 150k or 10 years. Why pay big bucks for a new (pick any major component) when I could be cruising in the latest model?

Because new trucks cost bigger bucks than a new any major component. Which don't go bad often on these trucks. 10 years 150k is a good mark though.

My 2009 PRERUNNER replaced a 99 Ranger that I bought new. I gifted it to my buddy who needed wheels. It had well over 180k and other than brake lines, thanks to the salt in winter, it was still running strong. My plan is to take the Prerunner to 250k or more, I'm 58 years old so it may be the last vehicle I have to buy

You know I love this truck. I think this is the first vehicle I purchased that I have not grown tired of. Fact is, I've got a Prius for work and my truck just gets no love these days. I think I fired it up this week for the first time in probably 2 months. So it's not that I don't like it, it just needs to go to a better home possibly.

Thanks for all your feedback guys. I wasn't aware the fuel filter was in the tank. Has anyone replaced their timing belt and water pump at all around the 90k mark?

Right. Toyota recommends the oil to be changed AFTER the transmission fails. There are no negative consequences to changing your transmission oil before it fails.

Ok change it I really don't care either way. Op asked opinion I gave mine. You have given one as well. OP will have to choose. 90k is a bit soon, especially If he hasn't carried heavy loads or exposed to high temps.... but you apparently Missed that part of my comment
