    Not bad, I'm going to do a routersled setup, i want to be able to take it apart when not in use, so I'm not sure how I want to build it yet

    Well i finally did something i am wishing i had done years ago. Ive had a natural gas fireplace in the living room that i have used a handful of times. Mostly cause it didnt have a blower or anything so it didnt really heat up the room and only felt good if sitting right in front of it. Well the gf has mentioned a few times about sitting in front of it so i finally got off my ass and looked into getting a blower for it. Luckily mine came prewired for a fan and the kit to do it was pretty cheap. So ordered it and it showed up today. Quick install (~15 minutes which included cleaning the dust that had accumulated) and have to say....wow it makes a great difference. Well worth it. Actually heats the room up now!

    On another noted. Im starting the planning phase on some electrical work I would like to do and could use some input. Basically I want to add a circuit for lights in the attic, wire an "attic fan", provide power for a natural gas heater in the garage, and provide a regular outlet in the attic.

    Heres the basic layout

    blue= lights
    Grey=regular outlet box
    Purple=heater location
    black=switch location (lights and fan)
    Green=fan location
    Brown=electrical panel location

    I think i should be able to run a new circuit through the panel (should meaning if i can get the wire ran to it).

    My real question is can all of this be run off a single circuit? The heater would need 4amps when running and the attic fan 4amps so seems like a 20amp circuit would be ok? Basically only one would be run at a time (attic fan in summer, heater in winter) The regular out let is more a "might as well" sort of deal.

    My basic idea (and understanding) would be run a single wire from the panel to a junction box. Then from there split it three ways. One line running to the outlet, one line running to a switch and then to the fan, and one line running to a switch and then to the heater.

    I am not an electrician, but as far as I know it is not a good idea to mix lights and outlets and hardwired items on the same circuit.
    Can you do it; yes. Should you do it; probably not.

    I hit send a bit to quick :)

    I meant to add that was sort of a worst case scenario. I honestly have no idea how easy it will be to run wire to the panel. The attic access to the panel would be in a corner with minimal clearance (edge of roof basically) through a drywall'd wall. So im looking at all the options. This being the worst IMO.

    I have looked in the NEC and local codes (and google) and havent found anything that really says you cant. Lots of "well i wouldnt if possible" but nothing saying its not legal that i could find. But im not an electrician so its murky water reading everything thats for sure.

    I personally do not mix receptacle and lighting circuits. Bit there is nothing in the NEC that makes it wrong.

    Agreed. I have actually been looking at very similar improvements; attic fan, recessed lights in the study and an additional outlet. Just looking in my panel none of the breakers and lights are mixed. I would think it is a safety concern when things are mixed and you do not know what breaker ends up turning what on or off.

    I actually tried to lol. Called four different outfits and basically just got blown off. Two pretty much told me the job was to small and they wouldnt book it but rather leave it as "filler" which doesnt work for me (id need to take the day off work), one just straight up told me not interested, and the other told me id be charged 1 days labor to do it (which there price was crazy high and did not include materials). Hence the looking at doing it myself.

    Im having the same issues finding a guy to do the natural gas as well to be fair though. Id wanted to just run it to the heater (which would be ~10 feet) but nobody is interested in such a small run. So might expand it to include a drop for a gas stove and a gas grill but thats more money.

    ...^^^... I made a kitchen table out of 10/4 slabs (jointed together with natural edges) and will take some pics in next few days.

    Had it covered up while working on the kitchen and have not used it yet.

    A few years ago, I had about 800 board feet of 8/4 oak that I gave away to a cabinet shop buddy ... because it was too difficult to move long distance.

    I have about 3,500 sq ft 3/4 T&G, random width, African wormy cherry (with silent pad) that I have in HVAC storage now that I need to sell.

    Too much work to install it here ... going to sell it and leave floors as is (except for the kitchen).

    Winding down this life long remodel job and moving ... lol ... :)

    PS ... Back to 12/4 & 10/4 & 8/4 & 6/4 slab lumber ... I love that stuff.

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    You should put them all on individual circuits. You're asking for trouble if the circuit trips with them all on one. What's the amp rating of the heater? The fan?

    Sadly I don't. Least not reliably. been playing with solar lights and outside of sunny days they are pretty much worthless charging wise.

    Nope. the two I asked said they won't cause it's a liability for them. something goes wrong and home owner blames them sort of deal. i don't blame em.

    Housing and commercial is booming out by me so even the small guys are getting tons of business from general contractors. so outside of emergency work (which comes at a price) they are booked up

    Both fans are 3-4amps.
