Sense everyone's in the volunteering mood who's down to teach me about gears and such :fingerscrossed:

This summer I'll be either buying a complete third and front clamshell with a rear arb off ecgs and bumming the knowledge of the local TW members to help show me how to install and setup the arb/compressor/hoses or paying a shop to do it :annoyed:

Where do you live? What size tires do you plan on running?

Wait for ARB to do their deal that comes with a free compressor. The only thing you should be paying shop for is the install of the ARB and r&p. That's one of those things that requires tight tolerances and experience. Everything else is easy, especially if it's just the rear diff.

Definately plan on learning quite a bit on/about my truck soon actually. School ends later this week & I plan on going over my whole truck and learning more about what can or could go wrong while out in the dirt so I'm prepared. Hell until a couple weeks ago I didn't even have any hands on experience with changing a tire, thanks @WileECoyote .

Planning on sanding down my frame to get rid of my surface rust & coating it. Might pop off the bed while I'm at it too so I can get to the top of the frame & see how things are looking topside. Also planning on checking out my brakes, checking out the fuel filter... got a list around here somewhere :D

I was going to buy the complete bolt in third off ecgs so they already set it up etc (I think)

Was going to run 456 but now going to school at 7000 ft elevation the truck is running like a super slug. Debating 488s now

Edit: auto trans, 33s, front/rear bumpers, full skids

If you're in SoCal, which I assume you are, go to Yota Masters in Corona. Personally I would go 4.88 if I was going 35's, or stick to 4.56 with 33's. There are always deals to be had on ARB's, you just have to be persistent on your search and ready to buy when the right deal comes up.

I'm running 5.29's, but that's due to the 22re, and the speedometer is just about accurate with 35's.

I have the dual t-cases just sitting there waiting, but I think I'm gonna hold off until after TDS for that.

Yea I'm familiar with yotamaters and Eric, great guy. Was just wondering if I could save some coin installing the gears myself or if it would be better to just have them do it all.

I was going to do 456 no doubt until I started going to flagstaff, az for school.

The power loss is crazy compared to sea level which is why I was possibly thinking 488s

My brother had 4.56 in his 2nd gen with 35's. I don't remember if he said anything about the transmission always trying to find the right gear. You might wanna look into that if you have an auto.

That's only because my truck is finally running and I'm in the honeymoon phase with it.

Plus, a thread similar to this at a gun forum I'm on started having problems.

True, plus with ARB's air lockers I've heard of air lines getting pinched. Haven't heard of issues with the e locker, then again I'm sure they exist.
