As a pressure vessel engineer I would NOT use that chart as blanket for all torque applications. Torque values are a very touchy subject even in the oil and gas industry because there are a lot things to take into consideration when torquing a bolt. That is just for static equipment besides cyclic wind loads but these are vehicles that see all types of vibrations at different frequencies. The spec you are quoting does not take into consideration the application of the members you are bolting together and preload. You just stated the U-bolts should be (with assumptions of material) ~93 ft-lbs when the diagrams calls roughly 73 ft-lbs. Did that 93 ft-lbs take into consideration of the 4 bolts properly aligned on the seat? The force of the bolt from the U bend of the U-bolts and/or formed from either cold or hot work? Did it take into consideration of the axle housing bearing the clamping stress? Maybe a different material is used from what you assumed and the factory wanted a preload on the U-bolt which is why they tend to yield.Thats why people say to never reuse U-bolts. A preload of 20% of the yield is usually lost the sec you pull the wrench off the bolt through the bolt, nut and bolted members. People lives are at stake driving there vehicles so if I were you I would leave the torque values up to the manufacture.

Not trying to scare you but I hear way to many scary lawsuits in this industry being on the design side of it all.

Pretty reasonable advice, follow the manufactures specs whenever available. If you don't have them, use the general spec sheet to for a bench mark so you don't over due it. Lord knows I've over torqued more than one bolt in my days with a wrench...

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
I think you're mistaken - the confusion comes from the fact the Toyota FSM calls for the rear U-Bolts to be torqued down to 37 ft./lbs. - Thirty Seven!!!

lol circle jerk conversation going on here. I understood @AP-Tanner 's post. He was posting some useful info... No harm in that.

Regarding the leaf spring misprint... That has been debated for years. And it's kind of dumb at this point. Anyone who works with threaded fasteners in that size, and spring shops especially, will laugh their asses off at the 37 ft.lb It's an obvious error.

I'm trying to figure out how to save it bigger and more clear. I'm about to upgrade all 4 shocks + more upgrades to front and back so Im planning on printing this big and hanging it in my garage also for easy reference while my hands are greasy.

That is for a 2WD truck. Never noticed this before but for some reason that diagram, shows LCA cam bolts / nuts at 155 ft.lbf. Not sure why. The 4WD cams which I think are the same part are specd at 100 ft.lbf.

A few things to take into account with U bolts.
1 The specs are for the factory hardware, acceptable torque may change if hardware changes. I.e. Bigger bolts, or different grade.
2 a properly installed bolt stretches some at the threads, assuming it is shaped right for the application and mates to the top plate or axle properly.
3 for this reason do not reuse them after repairs.
    4. because of this You gotta take into account with U bolts that the nuts are pulling against each other, yes you re only measuring torque on one thread but they play against each other.
    5. bolt nuts tend to be deep, allowing for the thread stretching.

I've noticed that these specs don't have the actuator bolt torque in here does anyone happen to know what the specs are? -thanks

Benson, thanks for posting the torque guides. Having this on the iPad during my suspension install made all the difference.
