Saggy Rear

hi,

i recently purchased a 4WD '03 Tacoma Double Cab with 80k miles. it has a camper shell and the rear sits slightly lower than the front. loading it up makes it worse, of course.

what tips do you have for raising the rear just an inch or so? i know some off-road types like the front of their trucks higher, but i personally like a stance with the rear up a tad. do you recommend add-a-leafs? or replacing the leaf springs all together? spacers? how can you know how much height you'll gain - i don't want to add 3" to the rear.

you could do a 1" spacer from toytec. I did, after doing the AAL. Because the back sat even with the front, so I put in the 1" spacer to get it about 1" higher then the front.

 

ofcourse doing just the AAL might give you the right hight your looking for. It should give you about 2".

 

thanks, that sounds good. i'll give the AAL a try first. are there different brands of these? any recommendations? where to buy?

Take your truck to a local spring shop and have them look at your truck. Ask them to give you a quote on making you a custom AAL to help the sagging.

Then - compare the cost - to the price of buying an entirely new leaf pak. But remember, if you buy a new leaf pak - you'll have to get a set with a paticular amount of *lift* in it to support the weight.

Do some research and see what other people have done with a cap & sagging. See what options others have gone with and if those options continue to work for them.
