Amen to that. Pull them and then play dumb. "I don't know what happened, my halogen bulbs just stopped working..." ;)

I read something about each side having it's own fuse, and then also having a combined fuse.

I guess the next question is, if it is a fuse do they chalk that up as an overload issue with the HIDs and the bill stands? Would suck to pay $55 for a $0.70 fuse. But that's how Toyota stays in business!

I guess we will find out soon enough what caused it when the OP reports in after Toyota.

We need more info. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned or not, but was a relay harness used here? Have all fuses been checked (there may be multiple)?

Here is the kit ordered. there was a right up on TW in regards to these which is what triggered me to purchase them. Still no word from toyota yet..

    https://coolbulbs.com/6000kelvins

I ordered the H11 kit with 35W ballast. I did not relay directly to the battery. Using the OEM wiring harness.

Its been raining like crazy here the past few days. When i installed the kit, I wrapped all connections tightly with electrical tape to ensure they wouldn't get wet.

Electrical tape can actually hold moisture in. Did the kit not have weatherpack connections? If not I would not use them. Any quality product designed to go under the hood will use weatherpack connectors.

Damn looks like your standard Chinese HID kit. When I had these though if my low beams went out it would just be one side. I really think it is a fuse that took place. Might of been a surge through the kit at one point? If that is the case, would be interesting to see what caused the surge in toasting the fuse. My HIDs are 35w too.

If you are concerned about it being a fuse, then why not, i dont know, look at the fuse yourself.?

Not using a relay may have caused the issue. You probably drew too much current through the OEM harness and either damaged wiring/connectors, or blew fuses.

Also, when you use a relay you also isolate the high voltage ballasts from the cars electronics. When high voltage/high frequency ballasts fail they have the potential to send all kinds of dirty power back into your cars electronics. I hope this didn't fry your ECU! Good luck!

Agreed on this, my morimoto stuff is all weather protected and water proof or else I would of shorted them out months ago! Def could be the water depending on how they are set up and covered in your engine bay.

That is a good point as I don't see a relay in your kit...the relay normally will have its own fuse so if there is a surge it just toasts its own fuse instead of the one in your box.

@OffRd 5TRMTPR open your manual and check where the fuses are, check and replace the headlight fuses. If that fixes it call it a day, if it doesn't fix it pony up the $55 and go to Toyota.

Any HID kit I've ever used had its own wiring. It connected the ballast to the battery for power, one lead came off to plug into the factory harness and another lead to the bulb. There should be something in that kit going to the battery.
