That's more of a residential hoist. Here is a commercial one, not 100% sure but that looks like a 12' sheetfc847f81f68c8ddf6e1e3a3ff9bb89e2.jpg

I was gonna say the same thing about fleet vehicles from my old job, they saw many drivers and tons of abuse and all models held up fine. The only issues were torn seats from people with tools in pockets and some broken switches or dials.

I hear a lot of people saying this, but it's an invalid argument in my opinion. It makes no sense to say you should have bought a full-size because that argument completely ignores the reasons someone might prefer a Tacoma over a full-size. I personally just traded my Ram 1500 for a '17 Tacoma and I have not one regret. In fact, the Tacoma is my favorite vehicle I've ever owned.

I also don't really get the price argument either. I paid $32,400 for my Tacoma. I did look at some full size trucks while shopping and none of them were as low as the Tacoma. Some were close, maybe 36K+.

It's about what features are import to each individual buyer. For me, I wanted a stick shift in higher trim levels (only Toyota offers this), the tacoma is my favorite looking truck, I like it's off-road ability, my Ram was unreliable as hell and I wanted something that had a reputation for reliability and resale, I didn't use the full capacity of my Ram and I wanted something smaller that fit my needs better. The Tacoma fit the bill better than any full size truck would have for me.

At the end of the day, it's not a one size fits all proposition. I would have gladly still purchased a Taco even if it was more expensive than a full size because it is a better fit for me and I'll be happier with it over the long haul.

I had a similar experience in my Ram 1500. It was a nice looking truck and I liked the power of the Hemi, but the build quality sucked and it was unreliable as hell. Plus the resale was horrible. I dropped that thing for my new Tacoma and I'll never look back. The Tacoma feels so much more solid and better built. Plus I was able to get a manual trans, which I love!

Obviously, people have been reporting issues on the 16 model quite a bit, but this isn't really objective data.

First of all, you're looking at user reviews. Those can be heavily skewed towards negative feedback as many people only feel the need to post when they're unhappy about something. Second, You're comparing the first year of a new generation in the Tacoma with the second or more year of the new generation of the other manufacturers. A more fair comparison might be the '17 Tacoma compared to the '16 of these others, but the user reviews will still skew things and not be a great measure of anything. Plus it depends on how many people submitted a review for each truck.

It'll be interesting to see what consumer reports, KBB, and JD power have to say about all of these trucks in 5-10 years. I'm pretty confident that Tacoma will still be at the top in all reliability and resale categories.

At the end of the day, I'd rather take my chances with the Tacoma based on it's reputation.

I have 30 years of owning domestics and they had issues, but then again so did my last 2 tacomas. One is getting a new frame (and I am very happy about that) the other one fell through the toyota BS and did not get a new frame. Axel seals, emergency brake issues, wheel bearings, clock spring (not under recall) overhead console screen needs fixed, all issues on my toyota's. No different than the many domestic's I've owned, minus the frame issues, axel seals is also a new one for me.
My 2016 4runner has been flawless, but with 8000KM I wouldn't expect any less.

But do I think Toyota builds an inferior vehicle? absolutely not, I use my vehicles (as well as lots of co-workers who also run Toyota's) and expect things to break from time to time and need replacing .

The thing is, I COULDN'T have bought a comparably equipped full size for the same price as my Tacoma. Not even close. When I was shopping for my truck, an F150 SuperCrew short box 2.7 4x4 with body colored bumpers, fascia and trim, dual climate control, navigation, heated bucket seats, blind spot monitoring, a sunroof, box liner, tow package, inverter outlet, cargo management system, etc... had an MSRP that was $18K CAD higher than a DCSB TRD Sport Upgrade 4x4. Even with the available $12K discount at Ford and $2K discount at Toyota, the Tacoma was $8000 (>20%) less expensive than the full size. Granted, the F150 with all of that equipment would also have some other features that the Tacoma is missing (power seats, rear defrost, LED box lighting) but with an F150, I'd be stuck with an auto transmission...which I HATE.

Yes it was MSRP but with poor credit they were able to rake him over the coals and didn't have to negotiate much if any. I personally do cash deals based on invoice and incentives but... He was in too big of a rush to accept my help.

Yes, and people with poor credit (and those who cannot afford them even with good credit) buy $35,000-40,000 Tacomas all the time. 'Murica.
