Is also a 1st Gen. Im not gonna lie I did look and test drive a few 3rd gens, just dealers want msrp and well that's not happening.

Plus I like to have a smaller truck for DD and mild offroading, camping and such. I want a dent less and rustless truck of course.

    This is what I've found, 03 Extended Cab, 4x4 auto, v6 sr5.. 125k miles
    http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/5917473337.html

No one near atl buy it, it's about a 3 hour drive for me to just look so getting some opinions before that adventure.

I'm up for discussions as well, this will be replacing my 2013 golf tdi for the buyback. Gonna miss 40-50 mpg in my dpf delete and tuned smoking hatchback

    Very low priced
Has timing belt and water pump done
Southern truck all its life ?
Look through a fine tooth comb

Also no one is paying msrp on third gen
I am in my second. Had a 16 and now a 17. Check the 17 thread. People are paying $2500-4500 under msrp

That's clean looking, but it's just the outside...I'd ask him for more pics before heading out to see it. Undercarriage as well.

Edit: missed the cabin pic, if the frame checks out and its up to date on maintenance I say go for it

OTD at that much under MSRP or just subtotal?

    I'll ask for a carfax. it's a 1 owner truck is all I know

    I found a website, it's a used toyota dealer.

    Check this out.. http://fuji-motors.com/used-toyota-tacoma-camper-4wd-1-owner.html

Cant tell you OTD or not, as diff states have diff laws on taxes and fees. I am talking about price of truck only

Guess it unanimous, I'll call tomorrow and get more photos. I've been emailing him earlier, but here in Alabama it's 9 so it's 10 for him.

I'll go for some close up shots and an under carriage shot as well.

debating on rather or not I can talk my buddy into flying me close to Atlanta or find a friend to tag along for a ride.

I agree with these other folks, truck looks nice and the price is fair. As they said, the big thing is the frames condition. I know one rust problem area are the forward leaf hangers. Check there and also the upper rear shock mounts. Some folks say bring a screwdriver and hammer, give the frame some whacks and if it doesn't punch through you're good.

From the listing it looks good, but that's a pretty low price for one in what seems like nice condition. Definitely check it over very well and ask for service reports etc, another thing to consider down this way is flood damage.

Run the vin number through toyota owners website. And look for anywhere that looks like they are covering up rust with paint underneath.

You need to find out if this truck had the coating done by Toyota, if it did you may be able to get a new frame for it.

There's still good deals to be found. I got mine for $9k. Less mileage, wheels, tires, lift, etc. So I mean, just cause it's priced low doesn't mean it's a rotten taco.

I'm gonna say pass this one up. If it looks that bad in pics it's gonna look worse in person.

I live in central New York, everything is rusted! When I go look at a Tacoma from a dealer I check to see if anything has been painted over. There was a nice double cab sitting on a lot, but upon further inspection they had taken flat black and painted over all the flaking rust underneath including the shoe box size hole under the gas pedal. Honest people that know Tacoma trucks won't try to hide rust but will be forthcoming with the amount it has.

The last picture, near the middle, looks like bad rusting on the bottom of the frame. The front skid plate isn't trash yet but will be. It may not be worth a long trip to go see it, especially if that's rust in the last pic. Be 100% sure toyota will fix it if it is rusty before buying it, otherwise pass.
