This is a very dumb question, but is there anyway to have the factory trifold hard cover and simultaneously have a bed rack for a tent? I know a canvas soft topper would work but I like the trifold cover. I was considering a camper shell, but I don't want to spend 3k for a decked out topper that leaks...

I have the OEM trifold as well and I've been trying to figure out how to add a bed rack to it. There's not being made at this point by any of the manufacturers so I think custom would be our only route.

I think it would be fairly easy to have one built off of 1/8" or 3/16" plates that would sit under on the bed rails and extend under the cover. The plates would give you a base to attaching tubing too and distribute the weight. The only drawback of keeping the trifold is the bed rack will have to sit up high enough to clear cover when it's being folded back (vertical). The advantage to a soft cover would be the rack could sit much closer to the bed.

Yeah definitely, I also think the tubing would have to extend further outside of the bed since the trifold sits directly on top of the bed rails. Some tonneau covers roll on the the inner bed slider rails, therefore the bed rack could sit flush on the top plastic bed rails.

I know you said you wanted a tonneau but I'd rethink the soft topper, This is my fifth pickup and with a ton of different setups had a couple shells, no shells, just bed racks no racks and this is by far the best.

Built a simple rack that holds the tent inside the topper, out of sight out of mind

Agreed! I like your set up @mac33. What bed rack are you using?

Can I see pictures with the tent folded up. I'm curious how you would do that. Unless the top is rolled down? Appreciate it
