Why do I get the feeling that Spicy is going to watch that Office Xmas party movie "for good ideas" for his actual Xmas party?

Who know's about insuring our modified trucks?

Parents are kicking me off their policy, which is with Geico. Called Geico, rates were not much higher than what I reimburse my parents, but they won't insure my truck being its modified for off-road use.

I guess you could avoid telling them its modified, or say its for looks, but that seems like it could have negative repercussions if I ever needed to actually use the insurance.

I have GEico. Just tell them you upgraded some shit and want it covered. That's all I did and I gave them a list and prices. Never told them what I do with it. They accepted it.

IDK if we have many, if any, other peeps real into skiing backcountry, but figure i should throw this out here regardles.. EDIT: if you're not on facebook and can't see it:
"In the past 8 days there have been 22 reported human triggered avalanches in Colorado. Of those, 14 people have been caught and 4 have been fully buried. Fortunately, no one has been seriously injured or worse. Additionally, there have been 2 fatal avalanche accidents in other western states. Areas where the snowpack is similar to what we have in Colorado.

The forecast is calling for more snow and wind over the next 5 days and with that we expect dangerous avalanche conditions to persist.

Due to the past events, and in the spirit of our mission of supporting avalanche forecasting and education throughout Colorado, we are postponing any marketing through our channels for the time being. While our "Stay Informed, Stay Alive" December fundraising campaign is happening right now, we find it is best to focus our efforts in collaboration with the CAIC to keep you informed of the most up-to-date information including forecasts, videos, notable observations, and incidents. We want to keep you informed on backcountry conditions and provide you with as much information as possible. Please remember, your observations are vital to the CAIC forecasts and to keeping others aware of what is happening out in the snow.

Don’t worry, we are still giving out Golden Tickets and Friends of CAIC swag. We also still ask that you support your avalanche center by donating at But for now, stay safe friends."

That's weird. I have usaa and they not only cover mods, but they also include offlroading mishaps in my comprehensive/collision coverage.

I'm waiting for parents to get the letter saying they won't renew my truck, being I gave them my parents policy number to get the quote.

At least I assume that's what will happen.

I've heard nothing but good things about USAA, and I even have a couple investment accounts with them, but I don't think I'm elligble for their insurance.

    I'll look into in.

Thanks for the info guys!

    Totally your call. :D

I had both bikes insured thru Geico, full coverage for both. Nothing else on the policy or with them in any way.

I managed to get a speeding ticket in the work van, in January, (winter time, I-25, who would have thought...) a few years back. The van was/is insured by Farmers along with the business, house, and the rest of my rolling crap.

Geico doubled my rates, on the bikes, upon hearing about the ticket. Fuck you. What does one have to do with the other?

Farmers didn't raise rates one cent. I guess they want to keep my business and it was a minor ticket to begin with so they looked the other way.

Switched to Allstate for the bikes alone, better coverage, for less than the original amount that Geico charged.. So screw Geico.

I have Geico now and it's the cheapest so far, had a fender bender and it made the rates go up a little. But all the other quotes were higher than my payments. So in about a year I'm switching up

I have full coverage with Allstate. I have asked multiple times about off road mods and they said the only additional insurance they offer is for sound systems. I've told them that we're talking $10k in msrp and they said it'll be covered as long as i have receipts for what things cost and it'll be depreciated. Off-road, forest service roads, all covered.

It's worth a phone call and see if you could get on with USAA. I've had them for years and they never let me down.
