Well I can only share my experience...my 04 was junk....mind you, 04 was the first year of the Colorado. There was always something wrong with it. In fact, between November 2007 and March 2015 at least one of the following systems at any given time had failed or had at least experienced some issue/fault that required attention: Braking, Heating, Air Conditioning and Drivetrain. That's the reliability side if it.

The paint also started to deteriorate in late 07...GM would do nothing about it.

    But yeah Christmas dash!!

Hopefully I've paid "once" for this Toyota...

I'm still amazed and happy that I bought my well-equipped V6 4x4 Access Cab TRD Sport for about $30K out the door... it's a heck of a machine and at that price was LESS than the average selling price of a car or truck in 2013. (about $33,000 if I recall correctly). The "you could have bought" statement is so stupid... we spend our money on our trucks because that's what we want to spend our money on. If we wanted to spend the same amount on Camrys, used BMWs, Vespas, hookers, Broadway musicals, clothes, boats, salt-water aquariums or whatever, we would have!

I live by the creedo that "Unless I am ready to buy it for them, I won't tell anyone what to get."

I'm not quite 2 years into my ownership and I can say that honeymoon is still on!

Remember that the number of complaints is proportional to the EXPECTATIONS. If you expect it to be a piece of junk, then why would you need to complain about it when it turns out to actually *be* one?

Because bigger is always better, right?
Who here regularly drives in the downtown core of a big city? Even Tacoma is pushing it, as far as size goes. Sometimes SMALLER is actually BETTER.

There is a reason why outside of North America, "Hilux" is considered a BIG truck.

I live in a pretty rural/suburban area that is close to a small city. A full size truck is fine around here and that's what most drive. I drive a Tacoma because it's my favorite truck and more than fits my needs. Why would I buy a full size just to buy a full size? That's dumb. I buy the truck that I like the best. Period.

Sold my POS Harley for a 2007 honda that's given me 0 trouble. And she's been riding hard an put up wet.

I only now wonder if I should have spent the extra $'s and bought a new Tacoma. 1st world problem to be sure. Ha!

I will most certainly and needlessly defend my decision to spend my hard-earned moola on my Tacoma any day of the week.

So as always things are not as simple as one factor. Loan risk is assessed by credit rating, income (size and stability), down payment, and collateral. Predatory loans are targeted at people with low credit and low incomes. More traditional loans are most often available for people with bad credit but good stable incomes with higher interest rates and higher down payments to account for the increased risk.

There seems to be no strong correlation in the US between higher income and living within ones means. Wants always seem to expand to and beyond whatever income is available, and people with what I would consider very high incomes often end up with bad credit scores.

Yup wealth and high income aren't the same. I am surrounded by very very high earners, with very little wealth.
