    True.

I worked with a guy, he had a nice decked out Yamaha, really nice looking bike. His wife wouldn't ride because it wasn't a Harley like their friends. So he would buy her Harley swag to convince her to ride. Finaly he got rid of it for a Harley. Laughed my ass off.

Oh, and I didn't feel bad for him at all, he got what he deserved.

Actually no, she was decent looking woman, I can't call her a lady though, she was more like a princess who had nothing but the best of the best and complained about shit.

The company bought/leased a vehicle for her to drive, big ass Chevy SUV, and she continued to bitch about the vehicle. She wanted the Caddy

Best part of going to bike meets. I take my $2500 ratty 1976 XS650 and park it next to all the cookie-cutter $20k Harleys. Whose bike do you think starts the most conversations?

True-ish. That's what happens when you own something with a big aftermarket. Can't really fault people for it. Everyone ends up with the same or similar mods because they know what the good brands are and buy based on reputation. That's why half the people on this site have an Old Man Emu lift and BFG KO2's. Not necessarily a bad thing, it just takes more effort to stand out.

I was in high school when Gary Dahl (a marketing legend) introduced the Pet Rock. A bunch of my friends actually paid the equivalent of about $15 in today's dollars for a rock that literally came out of a bag from a garden supply store inside of a cardboard box just because everyone else had one. They would bring them to school and keep them in their lockers. I decided to play some mind games with them so I found a dirty rock from my back yard and showed it to them claiming it was my pet rock, but mine was not domesticated; it was caught in the wild. Some of them were actually impressed and failed to see that I was mocking their conformity. I often feel the same way around some people today.

Does anyone spend 35k+ (in good faith) on a brand new pickup truck and EXPECT it to be a POS?

Love those 919's! I started on a 599, and moved to a CBR1000RR. Hondas for life.

That's awesome! Yeah, I love my 919. I had an 02 ducati monster 750 before it, and I always loved that classic look, naked style and traditional front end. I got the looks of a ducati with the reliability of a honda, best of both worlds.

The cbr1000rr is a nice bike as well, they're just too uncomfortable for me, not too mention I would probably get in trouble on that or killed lol. I will just wait for honda to update the cb1000r, cb1100 is a cool bike as well, but maybe when I'm much older haha.

Here's a picture of the monster by the way...in front of my jeep :)

Try owning a Corvette and being an a-typical Corvette owner. I love the car, but I'm embarrassed on some level to say I own one because there is SUCH a stigma with people who own them. That's why I'm trying to purposely avoid the "typical" modifications and all the bad touches the owners typically do (chrome everywhere, logos everywhere, etc, etc). If the emblems on the decklid and nose weren't posted into the body, out they'd go.

Living on a corner I loathe Harleys. They always sit at the stop sign talking, blaring the Eagles at max volume (cue the Big Lebowski quote) revving the bike every other second. Then they immediately take off WOT everywhere. It's ear piercing and doesn't even sound good. I don't mind loud exhaust when it doesn't sound bad...but most Harleys are just noise, nothing more.

Back on topic...people ask me why I didn't go full-size and it comes down to the fact I wanted a Tacoma, plain and simple. Anything bigger is pointless for me, and I wanted an honest to goodness manual.

When my Colorado was totaled earlier this year, I received X-amount of money to find a new vehicular. I could have bought a new Colorado, however this was still when demand was extremely high and and it would have been very difficult, nigh impossible, to have one located and delivered; unfortunately I am very picky about my vehicles so I knew I would essentially have to do this. Silverados are much easier to have found, so I decided to go with one that was my preferred color, etc. So for basically the same price as my Colorado, I got a full size. I had never owned a full size truck before and I was excited. I don't regret the decision at all, as I love the extra space in the Silverado cab and bigger bed and I really like the way it looks; and the Chevy 4.3L is the posterchild of a tried-and-true truck motor. However, I won't have an issue going back to a smaller truck in the future if I decide to. The almost 30 mpg and very low price for the base model of a Colorado are awesome, and I've always been a fan of the Tacoma and Frontier.
