Go bigger than you think you need. The number they claim they can hold is total bs unless none of your guns have any types of accessories like scopes, bipods, etc

I have a cabelas branded safe. It's actually a liberty safe that cabelas paid to slap their name on. I really like it and have no complaints.

    Same. Kind of.
I heard all this great stuff about USAA so I tried to get my dad to sign up so I could.
He got quoted way higher rates than he already had for anything he tried so he never signed up.

Purely anecdotal.... but I think maybe they try to use "exclusivity" to make people feel like they're getting a deal.
It must be good if not everyone can get it right?

USAA.. radio commercials annoy the Fok out of me!

Props, and thanks to all who have, currently and will serve... Just the commercial material is so annoying.

But i get sick of hearing about fuckface saying "i served two tours in Iraq, when i bought that truck over der, a cow bumped into de door and when a two ton animal bumps into a little steel door it makes quite a bit of damage..."

Interesting. I still have them for my renters, and I just got my bill for $180 for next year. 31k coverage, pretty sure I didn't up it to replacement and it's just actual, but I'd have to recheck the policy. It's definitely just blanket, no scheduled personal property. I guess as later said, I'm not the demographic they want right now? That or you have a lot less coverage than I do. I can't imagine given fire ratings where you are now you're cheaper than me to insure at the same level. Would also be interested in knowing if you're as covered as you think you are. For example, Allstate standard renters does not cover smartphones, that requires an extra rider. Same with 'electronic data processing equipment' (aka your computer), certain levels/types of cameras and lenses, and entertainment center equipment - or if said things are covered, there are specific limits that are stupid low for what they're talking about. Your agent quote is being pretty generous unless you have some of these riders.

The long story short for anyone, regarding any kind of insurance policy, is before you sign/buy, get a copy of the actual policy and read it. It doesn't matter what who tells you on the phone or even in person, just what is in the policy (which they can and do change). Doesn't help anyone being dropped, but until you actually are at least you know what really is or isn't covered.

Yep. The unofficial explanation I got from an agent (not my own) was that rates went up so much in this area because there was a tremendous increase in comp claims the prior couple of years. What caused it? A couple tornadoes and really bad hail storms. One in particular those of you up here might remember. If my experience taught me anything, it was that lesson on loyalty. And it's funny how insurance works too. You'd think that a low risk, no claim person, with an older vehicle would be desirable. But the operate on these 'pools' where they need to keep certain levels of different risk, and if things get too out of whack they have to rebalance them - which might mean getting rid of good clients because you have too many of them.
