Christmas tree build

Question for those of you with kids:

Do you wait until the night before Christmas to put out their gifts, or do you wrap them and place them under the tree for more than a week's time? I've done the later in the past but it has led to a contentious holiday season so I am thinking about changing things up this year. Their big gifts are too odd shaped to wrap.

Here's the one I am most excited about for the little big guy, Thunderbirds is his favorite show and he's been asking for this thing all year:

It's huge and takes about an hour to assemble, so I'll be up late the night before assembling this thing.

 

The wife wraps presents that are not from Santa and puts them under the tree as they're bought.

Santa's presents don't get placed under the tree until Christmas eve night after they've gone to bed.

Also....make sure Santa has is own unique wrapping paper.

 

SWEET! I've got the original series on DVD, LOVE IT!

 

I used to like buying real trees but after buying a fake one...it's just easier for me to store it and set it back up .



When my kids are older I'll upgrade the train and make a little Christmas town with them. Start a little Christmas tradition with them.

Thank you! We always watch Elf while we put up the tree and decorate it. Then, we sit, relax and watch N.L. Christmas Vaca when we're done haha. Fun tradition, hopefully our future kid(s) will appreciate it as much as we do.

That is a HUGE tree. We could definitely fit it, but it would have to go in the center of the living room lol!

Ahh the traditions! We watch bad santa every year we put up the tree, not sure how that became tradition.. lol
But since then we now call every tree Thurman Merman, cause the tree always ends up being so fat and the kid is HILARIOUS.

 

that's hilarious.. Great movie too. Not so much one for carrying the tradition on to your future children lol

Well, there goes the good mood in the thread...

 

Ya, kinda touchy subject around my house..

 

We put up two trees each year. The first is a 6.5 ft artificial that we've had for years. We now use it only for two Hallmark ornament series collections we have - my wife gets the Nostalgic Houses and Shoppes and I get the Classic American Cars.






The second is a real tree - we generally try to get one that is between 10 and 12 ft tall for in our great room. This one is right at about 12 ft. I put in side shots so you can get a perspective of the location and ceiling heights.

 

Wife loves Christmas and just had to have it in the newly finished basement (aka man cave).
