    where i grew up there were tamale shops.
    Pepe's tamales
    Gussies Tamales
    etc.

    that was all they did. no mexican food of any type except maybe menudo on the weekend. just tamales. you bought them by the dozen. now about $15 per dozen. red chili pork, green chili chicken, sweet anise ones, and green chili cheese ones.. nothing else.

    here, they are all mexican food joints that will sell you a tamale plate. at least that is all i have run across.

    Ever buy the fund-raiser tamales? A guy at work was selling them recently for his kid. Worst fucking tamales I've ever had.
