Scotty from Addicted sent me home with the cap pieces, so I think that's right for my year. I'm actually a little hazy on how that's all supposed to work, despite him verbally walking me through the process.

Do you know what the cap mod entails?

Damn was trying to find the directions on AllPros website...but no luck. You have to cut off the crossmember between the frame rails in front and then cut off a bit of the frame rail and the end caps he gave you gets welded inside the frame rail ends so you can have a mounting point for the bolt through the bumper.....if that makes sense

It basically is to allow the bumper to sit closer to the grille....but like I said for the AllPro Apex like I have the 01-04s don't have to do this mod, only us 98-00 guys

No Addicted off-road based their bumpers off the 98-00 frame IIRC. So all the others have to add a 2-3" "spacer" so it fits flush.

    .
Actually, mine was the first. :D They are based off the short front end. no spacers needed on the older trucks. The newer ones have to cut the frame back.

That's right, I just checked and remembered it was yours first. I thought the 95.5-97 and 01-04's have the same frame

By crossmember, do you mean the crash bar?

Thanks for the input guys! I'm still trying to get my head around all of this, and it really helps.

So are you saying that the frame horns for my 2002 are too long or too short after cutting off the crash bar?

Depends on how much you cut off. Its not a big deal really, the ends of the frame get trimmed back, not sure how much. Then a new end cap is welded in place with a captured nut, so the bumper can be mounted, There is also a full length crossmember that gets welded to the end of the frame, before the bumper is mounted. If by chance cut too much off the end, you could always build it back out. It all get hidden in the end.

Crash bar should be bolted on iirc, the frame ends for the newer trucks00-04 is extended a few inches more than the older style so some cutting/ shortening of the frame is required. The new end caps replace the bolton points that get cut off

Since Ant and I have done this twice now... it should be like this.

Remove the crash bar and the extensions/skid mount.

Then weld the extensions to the nubs that are left:

    Then weld mount to extensions:

Granted we made our mount but its the same concept. You use the extensions to judge how far out you want the bumper to stick out. Hope that helps! Check out my build again, I have the process pretty well documented haha

Looks like we didn't do the wing gussets the second time around:

But did cut slits to we could get a weld on the inner extension:

    Awesome info here, Mike!

One thing I might add; I've seen a couple first gen guys here in the Denver area that made their extensions way too long (for the Addicted Bumper specifically). The end result is a bumper that sticks out like buck teeth. Also, be sure to account for a winch, whether you are adding it now or in the future, and measure the length out beforehand so that you don't have to hack into it down the road. Seems rather obvious, but there's evidence rolling around this town that proves otherwise.

Hahaha yeah I made mine so it's tucked nice and close. I will however need to trim the grill a smidge for the winch though.

Oh, did I mention that this arrived last night..?

Given my pace on things far less invasive and fab intensive, I estimate this gets installed and up and running between Fall 2018 and never.
