new yorker here movin to sahuarita az.

well i will be moving from long island to sahuarita sometime probally in august. any one from near there? also any good places near there to take my atv and my truck offroading a little?
any other tips on the area are much apreciated. thanks to all and i look forward to my move.

 

Sahuarita is a suburb of Tucson. The greater metro Tucson area is home to nearly 1.2 Million people. Certainly not NY, but not small by any imagination.

There's plenty of TWers in the Tucson area, and Phoenix is only 90 minutes away. Welcome to Arizona. Sorry you have to move here in the hottest and shittest month EVAR! But its fantastic right now... it's high 50's!!

congrats!! Lately i've been in this funk where i want to leave new jersey but its tough bc my job is here and my family. I'd really like to move out west, our country is so beautiful out there. I like doing stuff outdoors and NJ isn't really doing it for me, not to mention all the trails i see and hear about out west for off roading. There is really no where to go wheeling around here. Oh well maybe someday i'll move, congrats on the move hope all goes well!

 

If you look to the West of Rancho Sahuarita you will see some very large dirt hill. That is where I work. Don’t let any one tell you they are used to store water. They are tails ponds from the mine. It is still a very nice area

 

It will be nice to have another TW member in the big sandbox (AZ)

to answer a few of your questions.

first no im a dem. lol sorry guys but i am not a very liberal one. lol

what brings me to arizona is a few things. i am out of work almost 2 years here in long island and had to short sell my home. i can rent a house 5 times what i have here in arizona for a third of what i pay here, lol soo thats one.

two is my wife is a school teacher and get cant get a job here on long island there are none. she already has interviews set up in arizona.

third i hat the high cost of living here on long island

fourth im about sick of dreary weather and rain and snow and the cold here. and muggy humidity in summer just sux.

fifth, i love riding my quad and it is illegal anyplace in new york.

sixth im sick of the traffic and congestion here

finally i just think arizona is beautiful !!

 

You're going to love it here! Screw the weather back east man. Plus, everyone here is more chill for the most part too.

 

Damn it. There is hope for you though.

One thing I've noticed; why do people that live in democratic states that are failing keep coming to conservative states that aren't in as bad of shape? *asking no one in particular* Are they coming to ruin my state? Why don't they stay and fix their own state? /rant off
