Hello everyone. Just bought a 2016 Tacoma SR5 4 cylinder and traded my 2001 Ford Ranger. This is the first forum that I have ever joined. Hopefully I won't make too many newbie mistakes in my posts.

Thanks. I'll post some pics when I get some daylight to work with. I wanted to use TonkaToy as my user name but it was already taken.

Congrats on the new truck and welcome to the TW. I owned a 99 Ranger, my first truck, and she was rock solid. I put 185k plus miles on her before I gifted it to my buddy who needed wheels. Other than routine maintenance and 3 alternators I never did a thing to her. It needed brake lines replaced after 17 years of salty winter roads but that was all.

"Recovering Ford owner" haha, I like that. I am surprised though, a lot of people seemed to like the Ranger. I am a recovered Ford owner... my '87 F150 was absolute garbage. Haven't missed that thing for a second.

Nice choice on a new truck, enjoy!

Thanks guys. I meant to take some pics today but we had 45+ mph winds with sub 20 degree F temp...even the dog didn't want to go outside. Yesterday was around 50 degrees. I'll get some pics out tomorrow when I'm acclimated. I know my neighbors up north might be amused with my griping about sub 20 degree weather.

Is it normal to watch hours of car shows after buying a car? I've been glued to Wheeler Dealers, Bitchin Rides, Unique Rides, Grave yard cars, Jay Leno's show and a couple of others.

BTW on the Jay Leno's garage there was a 10 minute segment on Tonka Motorsports where they race Toyota 2WD trucks. I found the link for it if I can figure out how to post it here.

Hide your wallet, seriously. This site will put all kinds of ideas into your head. Aside from the s/c, headers and exhaust I started with a bone stock '04 when I joined. 8 months later I shudder to think of what I've spent on this truck, lol. Made some good friends here though and have been on countless memorable wheeling trips. Welcome to TW!

Hey Eon Blue - I could see me getting ideas to supe up my 4 banger SR5. I get the feeling I'll probably wish I would have gone with the TRD!

One upgrade I can see already is the bumpers...as in I seem to have fake plastic flexible bumpers on the front and back. It wasn't obvious until I tested them with my foot.

REQUIRED VIEWING GUARANTEED TO BE BADAZZ: Here's the direct link to Tonka motorsports...Toyota truck racing stuff on Leno's Garage. It's not the whole episode, just the cool Toyota segment. Trailer is full length but don't let that scare you off.

As a fellow TW member said "the most expensive free site on the web". The good thing is that thanks to TW I do a lot of the maintenance myself instead of taking the truck to the dealer. The money I save goes to mods and upgrades.

    Welcome, I recently returned to a Tacoma from a Ford (2001 F250 7.3)
I think you'll spend way too much time and money here and on your Tacoma.
