your interwebs are broken for you, maybe it was one of those facebook fake news articles?

    http://www.kcra.com/article/feds-double-water-releases-out-of-folsom-lake/8495975

"Water releases out of Folsom Lake were doubled Tuesday morning after weekend rains increased the inflows into the lake, according to the Bureau of Reclamation."

Like I said, it is always flowing, they just increased its flow. The whole state does not drink from Folsom Lake, so one lake opening up more spill doesn't mean we are out of a drought. They measured underground water, and snowpack since really that is what we depend on, not one weekend of big rains.

Its cool though, I see what you are saying. We don't tap most of our lakes, and the whole dependence on the colorado river water could have been planned and handled differently.

Ask a farmer with a well. They have to keep going deeper to hit water. Due to over pumping, underground aquifers have collapsed and can never be replaced. So our state's groundwater holding capacity has decreased significantly.

I took a water rights and management class in collij and the issues are real. Especially with a growing population.

Water efficiency measures seem stupid when it's raining, but are necessary when the snow pack is low and when we have an early melt. Reservoirs were overflowing about 4 - 5 years ago and looked like this 2 years ago.

Full lake plus Sierra snowpack plus warm storm melting it faster than it can flow out of dam spillways...

possibly was a fake article disguised as a legitimate one. Im just tired of the state crying drought and prices increasing after we conserve like were scolded to.

EDIT: but to be fair i hate this fucking state and their politics so im just a bitter young old man.

California is one of the last states in the nation with unregulated ground water pumping, and it's fucking up a lot of stuff for everyone else, including other farmers who rely on surface water delivery. But that's changing now, and for the better.

Yeah the lame part of all that is that it is purely political. Every resident conserving hardly touches our real needs with all of the agricultural within the state (plant and animal). We are in a bad place for water, but the politicians and media really sell the problems and answers short.

I brought 14 gallons on water to DV and only used 5. So you could say that I am somewhat conservative. Although I did consume almost 2 gallons of alcoholic beverages and burned 75 gallons of gas... so probably not.

Don't need no farmer to tell you. Many wells in the foothills are going dry in the summers. We got a highly discounted tank because ours came very close to dry.

    ...too much shit to list.
Flooding does not mean full. Tahoe is FAR from full. Most the beach side resident homes still have docks that extend out to...well dirt. Thank goodness they spent all that money on a beach break

I run those also for backpacking. Seal them once a year and they will last until the sole splits bad.
