My wife, a middle school science teacher in a rural but rapidly growing area, sent me this email yesterday. We are from the country, so the whole situation made is face palm.

"So, the county was here mowing. Apparently, a ground hog got trapped between the mower and the school and "showed aggression". A few teachers called me in a panic. I said he was probably scared and would leave when they finished mowing.
Instead of just waiting, the school called the police. The ground hog ran away...duh. Now the police are using mirrors to check under everybody's car.
Goodness."

...^^^... Surrounded by deer ....


Blurry deer at 12 o'clock ... off the nose of the Taco (going up on the right curb) ....This is not a great photo because I was very surprised when this happened. Yesterday morning about 0430 I was leaving my driveway to go to the VAMC and was surrounded by about a dozen deer.

I turned on the interior light and grabbed the cell phone for a pic and caught this buck. He was bigger that he looks in the pic and was maybe a 6 pointer.

Another deer bumped into the back bumper of the truck but did no damage ... I wish I could have gotten better pics ... but it happened so fast I had no time. My Taco was surrounded by a dozen deer for maybe 10 to 15 seconds.

This is about the 3rd time in maybe 5 years that I have seen that many deer together in one group in this area ... never that many around the truck though.

They eat a lot of my plants ... but I have never caught them grazing until now ...
