NO WAY to the rubberised shit...!!!! I use Corrosion Free, which my guy says is better than Rust Check (he changed over).. the Krown is about the same, I think.... Do not use anything that gets hard...the stuff like Corrosion Free continues to "creep" throughout your door seams and other metal parts while pushing out any water in there.... I'm a 27 yr. true believer.... My trucks/cars DO NOT rust....!! And I live in Muskoka.... the snow and salt capital of Ontario...!! (My 2006 had a perfect frame when I traded it for the 2016...Dealer could NOT believe it.. Those '06' frames were doomed to rot without protection...!!)

EDIT... added benefit is everything is well lubricated like brake lines and cables, etc... no leaf spring squeaks, etc...

Have any of you managed to get the speed limit information on the small display in front of the driver?
I see it show up on the Nav at times but it's not that easy to ready, be great to have it right in front of me at times

Went in for third service today asked about tsb and they said mine doesn't apply. Told them about when coming to a stop sometimes it feels like it slams
Into low gear. Told me the tech who worked on my truck today has the same issue and he's been back and forth with corporate saying it's normal

I get a thud noise as well when I pull up to a light...happens 40% of the time I would say. BUT, it also happened on my 2012 Tacoma, and I was told it was normal.
Just another reason this will be my last Taco after owning 5 over 18 years.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a block heater? Where I bought my truck (Vancouver Island), they don't put them in at the dealer and want upwards of 400 dollars to install the heater(this price appears to be consistent across the country). I'd prefer to go after market and get actual dongle (3 prong Plug) hanging out the front bumper or wrapped up inside the engine block then have them install a receptacle in the bumber and have to use the super short toyota cord. Just means something else for me to have to carry and forget or lose.

Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Steve

Axle wrap, Tacos have had that for years. Mine is more noticeable when it's cold and coming to stop uphill. Damn annoying.

Normal everyday block heaters are about $269.00+GST, personally if I am sticking something into my brand new Truck engine that is being plugged into an electric outlet, I would tend to make sure it is a Factory Spec product. Call the dealerships near you and ask for their best price installed and see if you can get a better deal that way.

i had my truck into the dealer last week for the third time for the transmission and was told that there is no new tsb released after the original tsb 0077-16 (tci 4419)

i thought we would have the rev.1 but i guess not..

They are rather simple items, not like we are putting in a new suspension system, engine here, etc. The price is a wee bit steep for a block heater. We juts put one in my dads SUV from the dealer for 90 bucks installed. Which is why I was a wee bit shocked when I saw the Tacoma sticker price.

I'm still looking around for one though, may order the Toyota one.

pfft I've been to muskoka and perry sound in the winter.
your salt is nothing compared to the dumb shit salters here in the city.
Seriously the other week it looked like a truck came and just dumped its whole bin in on the street. I ended up taking a shovel and scooping some up for my driveway hahahaha

It's pretty bad up by you though I will agree. Not sure last time you've been to the city John but ya, its gotten really shitty down here lately. Dumb shit city council keep contracting morons for the roads here. Don't plow effectively, dump a shit load of salt but not spread evenly.

But hey, gotta agree with rust proofing.
My jetta is an 06, been Krown rust proofed every year, not a spec of rust on it.

I believe the tacoma one works through the coolant system, which are usually pretty pricy.
Maybe try going with an oilpan heater?
Thats what I use for my Jetta TDI, works great. Cost about $100 and it just glues to the bottom of the pan. Have it plugged into a timer, turns on 1.5h before I leave in the morning, helps a bunch for starting a diesel in -20 to -30, usually keeping it plugged in that time the oil heats up enough it starts to heat the rest of the engine.

My digital coolant gauge usually reads anywhere from 8-14 degrees once I go start it which really helps compared to it being -15 without the heater.

Mine gets delivered in january so can't speak for how the factory one is yet.

Came across this one while searching. Not sure how well it works, but it just slides into an existing cavity in the bottom of the engine.

Have a look, there's also a video on how to install it.

plug it into an extension cord and keep it with it where you plug in?
I have a cord just hanging on my garage door handle thats hooked up to the timer in the garage for my car. Which will be used for the tacoma as well.

I like the clean look of the factory one. Very similar to the way the new vw tdi are.

Otherwise try an oil heater. and put the plug hanging wherever you want it.
