    I worked in a video store that rented VHS, Beta and Laserdisc. When you could find a movie that was on all 3 formats...Beta won, hands-down.

    A lot of sports broadcasts still use Beta for replays and backup sources because they're so good.

    Yep but VHS was cheaper and more prominate and held longer video, sony made a mistake by holding the patents on Beta:cool:. Beta had better video quality.

    This is just like HD DVDs got beat out by Blu-Ray.

    Yeah, one of the many examples where cheaper isn't better. But to me, the differences are minute. There doesn't seem to be as big of a quality difference between HD and Blu-Ray as there were between Beta and VHS
