I didn't want to take advantage of him, I can bring my own beer. He was generous enough to buy us all steak and lobster already.

Actually I'm driving to Columbus tomorrow morning for 1 day of Subaru training and will be driving back in the afternoon. I've packed up my off road stuff "just in case" I decide to make a detour on my way home, even though I gotta work Saturday. I still have not washed the truck since SOR last weekend, it's been too cold.

Yeah but I gotta work Saturday I'll be in the shop all day. We burn waste oil and keep it cozy inside. Friday I'm really considering what I will do after my training class, as if 4 hours on the road wasn't enough I have to add an hour or two of trail time.

I've done that trip so many times I have taken every state highway between here and there, seen quite a few Amish buggy and farm land but not much else. I never knew so much farm land was in Ohio until I moved here and drove on all those random state highways. Not like what I was used to in Mississippi where the whole state was basically just small hills and trees, except for the delta(the whole western part of the state close to the Mississippi river) which was farm land that was flat for as far as you could see.

You know I would be willing. Let's wait until it warms up. House is not big. Garage is huge but not heated.

January filed up. First weekend wife has drill. Second weekend will be in Gatlinburg. Third weekend is Columbus brewfest. Fourth weekend is open still.

I'm a single 29 year old man. I'm free almost any time. Work is a consistent 8-5 Mon-Fri. A 3 hour drive from the house is about my max to go wheel unless I'm staying the night. Cheap is good, free is better lol

Hey BDub, good luck in Gatlinburg. I took the family this past summer, it's hard to believe the hotel we stayed at is now a smoking hole!!
As for the meetup, I'm in Dayton and can travel some, but with the family schedule I need a little notice to coordinate. Early Jan is booked for me. I like the idea of a cookout and camping as long as it's over 15 degrees! haha It's painful to be outside right now.

Santa Claus is coming to town.

@BDub I went to Gatlinburg like 11 years ago and had a blast, a week is not even enough time to do it all. However they did just have a thermal event so I would bet dollars that it is different, and I went in summer time so even more different yet again.

Ok, so it looks like nobody has a set decision for January other than they are not really available so it may be postponed. I was thinking along the lines of just some cold weather "wheeling" that mostly consists of gravel roads or two track with a few trails and some optional intermediate level obstacles, always possible pinstripes from tree branches. Likely won't even need 4x4 but still good to have for the time you do need it. I'll have plenty of recovery gear and nobody will be left behind under any circumstances.

For reference of the location I have in mind, Plainfield is the closest town on the map, but West Lafayette is the closest gas station. Most of the area is in the southern part of Coshocton county and northern parts of Muskingum county. I can't speak of any "legal" camping in that area, there is remote places that you could easily get away with camping it in for the night in the woods but I can't promise I'll be there, not saying I am against it either.
January 7th and 8th or 21st and 22nd are the weekends I am available during the month of January. February 4th and 5th is also possible.

I will likely be going for a day trip even if I am alone or just 1 or 2 others. So let me know if you want to join. All I can promise is you won't be left behind. Anyone attending a CB radio is highly recommended. Please let me know if any of those dates work for you, if the location is close enough, and what your plans may be. If anyone wants to boon dock camp I will join if you want the company.

2 and a half hours from Dayton, Ohio.
    2 hours from Cleveland, Ohio.
1 and a half hour from Columbus, Ohio.
    45 minutes from Zanesville, Ohio.
    3 hours from Cincinnati, Ohio.
    1 hour from Canton, Ohio.

I would do a time from Northeast Kentucky but thats a broad range of area so I left it alone.
