Glad you had a good time with the family! And a safe trip. Sucks about the windshield. I have a chip but it has not grown so am sticking with it so far. Blacksburg exit off from 81 headed North has always intrigued me for some reason, likely history.

So there was talk about a get together in the Mid Atlantic area. Pisgah NF was brought up as was OBX. I consider those both the South having lived in Asheville NC and Currituck before that. Traffic headed into the Outer Banks was narrowed for a long ways and if you didn't time it right your were sitting for hours. My 2 cents and been a LONG time since I've been there. Hell Dead Lobster taste good now. But the ocean and beach is hard to beat even though several complained about the sun and bleaching. I lived on 60 cycle sunlight for years so understand that but no excuse :D

West by Gawd Va. was brought up as a better central spot. And so were you in that you know a good locations in those areas. No pressure :p Might be better to find out who is able to commit, dates etc. and then do location? Good chance you would know some of the better places to meet up. Doubt I can attend and those that might be able to can pitch in.

Secretary notes for the interim while you were gone read business as usual...

@JD'STaco-Thanks for the link to hubcaphaven. $139.00 each, not a bad price as yours look brand new, just more than I want to spend to change the look of my rig. Unless there is some gained performance going from factory steelie to aluminum. Just want to get away from the murdered look. I will check CL and local pick-a-part.

@MQQSE-I have seen your posts, mostly I lurk, never spoken to you before. Nice to meet you. My wife and I want to come to Alaska next summer and spend a week around Anchorage and then a week up around Denali.Thinking June is a good time to go, least amount of rain, how about the mosquitoes? Was exposed to West Nile virus in Idaho a few years back-don't want to do that again. Anything we need to see and anything that looks tempting but not really worth it? Don't want to do just typical tourist stuff, like to get off the beaten path some. Any thought/suggestions? Thanks for any info...

Viper Remote Start, can kick that sucker on with my phone from anywhere that has cell phone coverage.
    Just do it!

Of course with you being a brown shoe twigit and all you could likely save yourself some coin and do it yourself. And despite me being a pit snipe I could have too believe it or not. C'uz now I R a Twigit 2... But to me it was worth it to pay Best Buy. Anything goes wrong I can go back to them and demand they fix it. 3 years later no complaints. Looks like they have a couple of units on sale right now including installation.

Hi Mike, I'll work up a proper response on this a little later. About to head out the door for work.

    Sleep well guys.

How will you travel up, cruise or fly?

I definitely suggest your own rental car, don't tie yourself to a cruise/tour company's schedule.

I suggest 3-5 days on Kenai Peninsula; 2-4 days transiting from Kenai thru Anchorage to Denali; 2-4 days at Denali; then 3-4 days Fairbanks/Chena Hot Springs. Depending on schedule and available time, we really like Wrangell St Elias National Park too.

On actually getting to see Denali, it is often clouded over; when family are visiting, I always make Denali a "floater" and call a verbal the morning it looks like the mountain will actually be in view. A pricey, but awesome Denali experience is a flight-seeing tour with glacier landing on the mountain. We've gone with Talkeetna Air a few times.

A lot depends on what you're interested in, how much you want to spend, and how much ground you want to cover in a given amount of time. Feel free to ask away.

Oh, as far as mosquitoes, we definitely have them. You'd have to come in Winter to avoid them. I'm not aware of any cases of West Nile virus here. :notsure: Just checked, per ADF&G, we haven't recorded a case of it, neither human nor animal.

    Morning

    -5 right now. Wind blowing.
    No remote starts.
Get your lazy ass out the door and start it up.
We take a lot out because of wierd electrical issues.
Starting a vehicle without being there in this cold weather can prevent damage if something happens.
Had a car towed in with a engine fire because the alt was seized and just burned the belt. No idea a problem till smoke was seen in the garage.
one had no oil pressure and well.........

Going to be a fun day...
