New to me 2012 regular cab 4x4 automatic:
Just filled up for the second time ever. 87 octane of course from the local Stop and Shop gas station.
22.6 mpg mixed (less than 100 miles highway).
The first fill up followed a 230+ mile race home to RI from the mountains of New Hampshire where I bought the truck with a pretty impatient wife following behind in her car. The subsequent fill up yielded 19.7 mpg.
So far I'm pleased that this little red Tacoma is using a lot less gas than the V6 4x4 Xterra it replaces.

What speed did you do to get 30.6 mpg?

Winter gas, cold weather, city driving... maybe I've just stopped babying it.
I don't know. Nowadays I'm getting 18-19 mpg instead of the 21-22 I got after I first bought it.

I'm on my fourth tank with the lift and 295's. I'm running premium cause I see a little difference in the way she pulls the hills, but no difference in mpg.

I used a Garmin to track miles, not the odometer, and I keep her around 68mph, I notice 75+ and fuel mileage goes to shit.

    1st tank: 21.3
    2nd tank: 19.3
    3rd tank: 20.4

So well see how it goes with the 4.88 regear, for now it's just stock 3.92's and Manual Trans.

I'm in the same conditions and get 18-19 too. Sure cold weather gives a hit! More warm up time and 4x4 driving in snowy roads. Will also pull the atv more often so I expect it to drop even more.

Were you running the 255's during summer too? If so what mpg did you get? I'am considering this size fir my next set but still concerned about a too big mpg drop.

Just the end of summer it got 18.5 best tank but I could only pull off 20 even with 265:70 I love the tires though!! Well worth it I think.

19 the last few tanks. Always between 18 and 20 except once driving into a nasty headwind when I burned through a good chunk of a tank at 17.

I am not close to change my tires but damn I think about that so much and 255's are soo interesting! would love to have some that are not E rated to save a bit of weight... and no need for E...

May this information be useful for someone...

    Current set up:

    - +- 2.5" lift in front and 2" block in the back

    - 65lbs/tire winter set

    - hard leer shell on the bed

    - towing a single axle trailer 5'x10' loaded with a Can-Am OutlanderMax (around 800-850lbs)

    - Driving in 4x4 because snow storm

Average 16.2mpg... pretty satisfied with this when my buddy says he is doing this in perfect condition with his Silverado lol.

    Love my 2.7!

all the v6 guys make fun of the 2.7l 4 banger, but it makes more sense to get the 2.7l for use as a daily driver that still has pick up truck capabilities. I came from a 3.4l v6(great engine) to a 2.7l a first I thought I made a huge mistake getting the 2.7l because of the power issue but now Im realizing how much better the MPGs are, in my old truck having a 1/4 tank of gas means start looking for a gas station, with this truck a 1/4 tank means I got a lot more driving before needing gas. Plus its easy to work on as far as maintainence and repairs.

Just got one of my worst tanks: 21mpg. It feels nice to say that is nearly my worst yet, as it's still over 20. Combined factors: (relatively) cold temps, more time to reach full temp; stormy/windy conditions resulting in accidents/traffic jams and increased idling time (also driving against the wind both ways LOL); winter blend fuels; more short trips this tank (running more work errands)
