A friend of a friend in HS sent his del Sol into a tree in his backyard.

I never leave my truck in neutral, so as much as I'd like one, I'd send my truck into my garage door easily. I miss the Viper alarm/remote start I had in my 2013.

Howling down here in CT. Brisk A.F. too. Had a soccer game (indoor) at 9. Left house at 8:30, temp on mirror said 21. Game ended at 10, got in truck and said 19. Lovely.

Matter of fact, they already called a 2 hr delay for school tomorrow because of the cold.

Morning everyone. Stay warm out there.

Question for all you. Made a "startling" discovery this morning. Something I already suspected in my downstairs, but now upstairs in the kitchen as well. So I have a raised ranch, and live by woods. Got fucking field mice running around apparently. Not sure how bad/many, but a few.

Saw something from the corner of my eye this morning, running into my lower cabinets through a tiny hole by the dishwasher. Popped out the lower cover on it and low and behold, there were two piles of dog food under there. FML.

Any one have any ideas/confirmed tips for solutions to get rid of those fuckers on my own before calling an exterminator?

100%. Plus, its not nearly as windy anymore this morning.

 

I had a problem last Spring with them in a Ranch. I put traps and baited areas. Also I went around the outside of the house to make sure there were no gaps between siding and foundation where they could be getting in. They only need a couple inch gap to get in.
After I got them out of the basement, this Fall I heard some running in the attic. Did the same thing, plugged some areas and put down traps/bait. Haven't heard anything for a few months now.

Or, you can get a cat.

 

Snap traps, glue traps work well. I'd stay away from One Bite poisons if you have a pet. Even 2nd hand poison is not good if pet finds and eats a poisoned mouse/rat.
As mentioned ,find out where they're coming in from and plug it up. They don't need much to sneak in.
I use expandable foam or coarse steel wool. For some reason, they don't like going thru steel wool.

 

Morning everyone. Colder than a well digger's ass out there. You should see how many extension cords we have running around the building for our fleet's block heaters. Like a giant bowl of spaghetti. Btw, new SW movie is definitely worth the time and money.

 

Is there any construction going on near you? I started noticing mine just after my neighbor dug up his backyard and put in a new septic and I am willing to bet they were living somewhere back there and the digging displaced them into my basement.

 

Start simple with traps but you need to seal the hell out of your house. They can sneak into a 1/4" gap so keep that in mind when you're in your basement or looking from the outside. Bulkhead doors and the interface between your sillplate and the concrete/stone/masonry foundation wall is a good place to start sealing, them work up from there. Put traps perpendicular to your walls, bait side toward the wall as they like to run along walls. Once they're in, they are tough to get rid of. Get rid of their food sources, check your pantry to make sure they're not in there, don't leave pet food out.

 

No construction or anything like that going on near me. I live by woods and tall grass and stuff like that, so I'm sure they come in "from" there. My parents have 2 cats... Might need to borrow them for a few days. Going to try the traps. Thanks peeps!

 

Snap traps baited with stinky cheese. I buy them 6 or 8 packs at a time and don't reuse them because once they get dead mouse smell on them they are less effective. Glue traps and those fancy ones where you can't see the mouse are not as good. Old fashion mouse traps. I fight these bastards every year.

they do indeed work well.Peanut butter and granola is my bait of choice. The glue strips work well if you bait them and position them on a runway.

 

And they like to fight back!

Haha yeah. Just reminded me of a book series I read when I was young, Redwall. It's basically about medieval times, but with mice and other small animals as the 'people'

 

I've thought about the snap traps... those are the old fashioned ones that the metal pc snaps and basically kills it, right?! Too "scared" of accidentally leaving one laying around because of our dog, and kids. Not that it would be any "better" with the glue traps either... guess I'll just have to make it a point to remember to pick them up when we're home, and only set them at night and while we're at work.

I can just pick any of this stuff up at Lowes or Home Depot, right?!
