Guess myself and mini me will be making a trip to one of those today, likely right after I pick him up from daycare then.

The small ones work for field mice.(and they won't break your finger)
Don't need the industrial strength ones for rats if it's mice you're after.,lol.

 

I had a snap-trap in the attic once and the mouse only got it's leg caught in the trap. for the next hour or so in the middle of the night it dragged the trap all over the attic. Grrr

 

Talking about snap traps, right?

 

I like the traps because no one likes the stinky mouse smell inside your wall for a few days. We used to use peanut butter in my old house but that was a losing war. 17th century farmhouse with field stone foundation.

We had a similar set up in the basement worked well. Then you can release them into a coworkers car, Or tie little parachutes on them and launch them out of a potatoe gun.

we have a farm store up here that had them. but the best price was from the manufacture. I have 4 or 5 and one for parts.
it is the only trap everyone in the house can empty!!!

If you fill the bucket with water they drown even better. I have no love for mice. they get into the farm equipment GRR even Mick Mouse needs to go haha

 

I just used the circular traps that they enter. No risk of dogs/cats/kids hurting themselves.

Bait it with the dry dog or cat food, so it won't stink up the house.

I fought them for 10 yrs since my cabinet/sink had a lot of holes and I couldn't reach all of them to close it up, plus having a crawlspace in the basement.

 

they have a "tail" you can get also for them. basically a led on a wire. you but it in the attic hang the tail out side the attic led blinks when you have a mouse

This is what the old timer living next to the inlaws Maine place uses for his barn. He'll get 10+ a week in that thing. He fills is half full of water so they drown.

Not a bad idea to use the dog food as bait. A "nice" mix of that and peanut butter should get the mice going to the traps I would think.

Looked up that ratzapper thing... not cheap. But I guess if they work then it would justify the price.

 

Don't even bother with the peanut butter, the dry food is the way. Trust me. Years ago the damn things were hoarding dry cat food in my oven and I figured "well if they go for that for hoarding why not bait with it"..works better than anything else. Plus the dogs/cats can't get to the food inside there and won't hurt themselves trying like a snap trap
