Certainly see what they'll do, but don't *assume* that will be the best deal.

I checked Costco pricing when I ordered and ended up paying $1100 less using the conventional email-a-bunch-of-dealers-for-quotes method.

sr5 or SR i can't confirm, as I didn't look closely enough at the offer in the local dealership ad.

I tried Costco. The local dealerships in my area would not work with them on a Tacoma. Others experience may vary but that was mine.

There is 5% markup from dealer invoice to MSRP, not including any B.S. dealer adds like nitrogen, tint, pinstripe, etc. Those usually have an insane markup. True dealer cost is invoice minus the holdback (2% of invoice), finance credit, and some small fees. Demand determines price, and these are in high demand compared to how many Toyota is making. I would say a good deal is if you can buy it for invoice plus TT&L. You should be able to walk into any dealer and pay $500 over invoice, and get in and out fairly easily. Most dealers will take $500 over on most any vehicle. Anything below that, may entail you making saving $500-$1000 more, a part time job, and emailing 500 dealers and driving a good distance. It just depends on how much time you want to spend negotiating, and if you enjoy the hunt.

LOL. Just goes to show the truck don't matter if the garage is big enough!

OP, the Tacoma (DCLBOR4x4w/JBL) your describing is a unicorn like mine. Probably the hardest configuration to find and your lucky if you find one. They don't build too many long beds, even more so like this.

I'm not saying its a good price, all I'm saying is you won't find too many out there to pick from. You can get a better price on a shortbed because those are a dime a dozen. Do a search for 2016 or 2017 Tacoma and you will mostly see shortbeds.

If you really want the long bed then get it. I've had mine almost a year and its been a great truck. All the bells and whistles are worth it too. I didn't get any of their add on stuff like bed extender, mud flaps, tube steps, that is where you get ripped off. If you can tell them to take all the excess stuff off and buy it on your own in aftermarket. You will find better quality and prices on those things.

Costco pricing was terrible. Better to just make an offer.

It wasn't bad for someone too timid to negotiate and needing a set-price transaction. It does of course vary by location and by vehicle. Either way, much better to go with the conventional means.

I'm building a 30x40 barn/shop so I'll never have to worry about running out of garage space again. May put a cot, window unit, and Coleman stove out there, and never see the family again except for holidays. A man can dream.
