    There's no law against owning and listening without a license IIRC. Transmitting is the issue.

    Get a license, the test is easy and cheap.

    If someone catches your "friends" and reports them to the FCC, they could receive thousands of dollars in fines. For a $20 book, a $35 test, and about a week of studying, it isn't worth it.

    Ham radio is awesome and having a license means you don't have to hide in the shadows. You can explore greater functionality like APRS and repeaters. Both those could be life savers.

    If anyone was wondering, I believe this may clear things up

    18 U.S. Code § 2511 - Interception and disclosure of wire, oral, or electronic communications prohibited:

    (g)It shall not be unlawful under this chapter or chapter 121 of this title for any person—
    (i) to intercept or access an electronic communication made through an electronic communication system that is configured so that such electronic communication is readily accessible to the general public;
    (ii)to intercept any radio communication which is transmitted—
    (I) by any station for the use of the general public, or that relates to ships, aircraft, vehicles, or persons in distress;
    (II) by any governmental, law enforcement, civil defense, private land mobile, or public safety communications system, including police and fire, readily accessible to the general public;
    (III) by a station operating on an authorized frequency within the bands allocated to the amateur, citizens band, or general mobile radio services; or
    (IV) by any marine or aeronautical communications system;

    Get a license if you plan to communicate, otherwise, you can be a creep legally if you stay silent.

    Dont know anything about cb or ham radios but back when i was a wee young feller we got our hands on a big as radio of sorts from an old painted grey bus. We thought it was the coolest thing ever tryna talk randomly into and listen to what was otg. One day we heard what sounded like military or some kind of coast gaurd conversation. Immediately after that a fucking jet flew handy over the shed. This is in a town of a few hundred in Newfoundland far from any airport. There should not be jets fartn around. Thinking it was after us we were scared shitless for quite a while. Never seen a jet before and never seen one since. Anyways that concludes my story for the day.

    Lol. I am looking to get a CB radio, I like the one that was posted but I may go for something a little shinier. My question is regarding antennas, how large are the antennas you all are using and are there any brackets you all would recommend for the hood?

    K, legit question this time.

    I've noticed when I drive in the snow that when I try and shift from drive to park that it's kinda sticky and doesn't want to go.

    Today, driving through pretty wet snow I tried to shift to park and e farthest it would go was reverse. I'm guessing it's because snow got thrown up in there and kinda blocked it off. I got it back it go into park after awhile.

    If you don't wanna answer cool. If you wanna call me an idiot, go for it, idgac. IMG_0119.jpg
