Traffic and idiots aside, I must say it is nice to be able to fish at the beach in the early morning in a t-shirt and shorts, then drive 1.5 hours and be snowboarding and wheeling in the mountains.

I remember test driving a brand new one back around 1984 or 1985, just could not make a good deal with the dealership to buy it.

La sucks. I live 30 min south of La in the Torrance area. La schools suck, most of the area is bad, crime etc...Orange county in crowded but nice. Torrance, redondo, hermosa, manhattan, palos verdes, lomita, that area of southern california is awesome. crowded, but awesome. stay away from the big city

My opinion of LA may also be based on the fact that I make a lot more money than I did in the Bay Area doing the exact same thing.

It is crowded thats for sure. As for schools, I have not lived in any city in California where public schools did not suck.

I dont have children, but if I did you could bet they would be getting a private education.

What makes it being crowed even worse is a lot of the people here are transplants from elsewhere and do not appreciate what the city has to offer. They usually walk around with an attitude saying 'LA sucks'

Look up API scores and us news rankings
    Plenty of good schools
Of course with very high real estate prices

Im not bashing LA schools. Just public education in general. But who cares what my opinion is, I dont have kids or ever deal with the school system, public or private.

Not going to argue with you

Torrance united (I just checked) are at 907

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
...^^^... I had a couple of Toyota trucks about this time (red one & a white one & 1 carbureted & 1 EFI).

IIRC ... USA temporarily put a 25% tariff these little Toyota pickups for a while ... and the truck beds were being installed in the USA ports (aka Jacksonville for this area).

They were my favorite and had a single wall bed and tailgate ... light & cheap ... but few would buy them today ... because no safety goodies.

My favorite compromise small Toyota truck (between old and new) was the 2004 Gen 1 Tacoma.

Just my own person thoughts ...

well i did not mean every single la school sucks, sorry. there are plenty of good schools and neighborhoods with 1 million plus dollar homes. Im talking of the areas with high crime, rough schools with no funding. Which there are a lot of because of the size of the city. Reason I say torrance schools is because i have lived here for 30 years. My wife teaches in them, mom has worked there for 20 years, multiple friends are teachers. Im very involved in coaching and am at the schools a lot and know a lot of the students. Graduation rates are high. They have good state funding. But yes your right, in La there are good schools that are ranked very high nationally. That part of La, is probably a nice area and more upscale. When i think of La, thats not what i think of unfortunately

    To each his own

When I think of LA I think of the top notch areas I am talking about and live in :)

I don't think of Compton or Inglewood when I think of LA:)
