99 Tacoma 4x4 w/ 320K miles

Guy is asking $3500. Truck just needs power steering pump. Well maintained but sheesh 320K miles. As you all know I have been looking for a first gen Tacoma for awhile. This has all the features I've been looking for:

-manual transmission
- 4x4
- extended cab
- first generation


$3500 isn't much at all. I'm having my mechanic look at it Monday. i know the truck's best days have passed so what do you guys think?

 

1st gens are known to go for high miles if they are cared for. I would be wanting to know the service record history, timing belt dates etc. Any rust issues?

 

My mechanic will look at the truck more closely but the owner says no rust issues

Personally I'd look for one with less miles but that's just me. Plenty of them out there with half that mileage, sure they will cost more but with 320k miles you could run into some expensive repairs relatively soon.

 

To me the320k miles doesn't scare me

But that truck looks to beat up (for my needs)

Then again it is only $3500

 

Of course I look for a taco with less miles but because I don't have the funds to buy a nicer one i have to go with what my budget will allow.

 

Looks like a 17 year old truck that was used as a truck to me.

It all depends on what you are looking for but I will say this, 1st Gen Taco's are NOT CHEAP to fix up. Aftermarket support is there for the off road crew but if you are going oem you are going to have to pay to play.

 

It looks beat up? Interesting... I don't see it

 

Oem? I'm just driving this to and from work and occasionally to the beach. I'm not doing anything crazy with it.

The one thing I don't like is that he has it lifted on 33s. 31s are plenty for a truck that size

 

Then you sir should be quite happy with the $3500 price tag.

Truck is dirty
Tailgate beat up

Listen for the price it's a good truck.

I'd say pull the trigger if it checks out for your Mechanic. looks like a great truck really for 320k miles it's not that beat up

 

Oh I see. Man I am a complete dumb dumb when it comes to trucks. I know nothing other than I love first generation tacomas and have wanted to own one for a long time. I'm a musician and with all my gear I definitely need something bigger than my Acura RL. I'm just tearing up the seats by hauling my gear in and out. So that's why I want a truck. Also, I need something to haul my surfboard to the beach and back.

The Tacoma appeals to me because they last a long time. This truck scares me because it has 320K miles and I am a poor musician (partly kidding). So that's why situation and that's why I'm looking at an old beat up truck. I love that it's in black and has 4x4, cool factor +1000x

If your budget was higher I would say look for tacomas in Atlanta or Florida

But good clean first gen are pricey
