Owner's manual says 83 ft. lbs. so 80 - 85 should do.

I got a set of the offroad wheels with the goodyear tire from a fella yesterday , just put them on my sr5 dcsb . They weigh 14 lbs. apiece less than the sr5 alloy wheels with nitto grp. 265/75 's ! Was killing my mpg's and road like a tank , roar roar roar ! Hated em ! Much better now . 20 years ago it would have been music to my ears but I'm old now , heck with that ! LOL ,

OK... the torque for the OEM alloy wheels with the washers is 83 ft/lb..... So, if I put on my winter tires, with steel wheels and no washer on the nuts....(just a tapered "acorn" steel nut)... what should the torque be..?? I've used 85ft/lb for years with no problem, but some guys say that is not enough torque...

What do you guys do when you go steelies for the winter...??

put a 24inch breaker bar on it and put all your weight behind it until it won't budge anymore. should be tight enough
    lol

I was looking in the manual the other day for the jack stand locations and passed over the lugnut section, said the same for the tapered ones or the washer ones. 83lbs.
I usually go 90lbs anyways though. Never had any problems.

    Oh, shit, I missed that I guess..

Thanx Joe.... Since I've used 85 for 11 yrs now, I also guess it should work for the steelies...... I would not stand on the 24" breaker bar to set the torque though..!! It might be real hard to get off later..!:D

How did you weather the storm..? We got another 18" yesterday...! I think I popped a mud flap screw just backing out through the crap so I could blow the driveway... OEM hard plastic flaps are not great in snow, or anything, I guess...!!

Good rule of thumb: M12x1.5 lugs are torqued to 80-85 ft/lbs. M14x1.5s are 85-90ft/lbs

OH, this is why I will NEVER go back down to the "city" again....!! Just dumb-ass, way too many people for my liking..! I think the S/M trails should be open soon around here.... the trail signs are up... the lakes are frozen... just need some more snow and cold nites..!!
We have about 36" on the front lawn now.... cold as hell....lakes should be freezin', as long as the groomers are out to knock down the blanket of snow, so the lakes can freeze up...!!

By Xmas... It'll be crazy sledding around here....!! Nice early year for the sledders.

Uxbridge is open for business..?? Musta made a lot of snow, eh?

I follow their facebook page. said they have a few runs open already, we got a good dump already and its cold enough they can make snow. So hitting the slopes while I can :D Finished phase one of this huge shut down we're doing at IBM, starts back up come january 10th so will be working 12 hour shifts for 2 weeks come then.

So taking advantage of the slopes as long as I can

Correct, it's the stud/nut size that determines the torque spec, nothing to do with the wheel or washer as some are asking.
