Can you "splain" what you mean and where your hole is that the rat chewed out..??

 

I have no issues with my transmission, no delayed shifting, no gear hunting, nothing, works fine. However I am going to ask for them to take a look anyway and act like I have a problem just to doublecheck.

 

It's on the tailgate where the cable meets the bolt, there's a tabbed washer to keep the cable from popping off when you close the gate. That tab sits in a punched square hole, that is the hole that's all torn up. Not deadly but poor workmanship/QC for sure. Definitely an access point for corrosion over the years, I would rather not pay to fix it when it rots out and the warranty is up.

 

I'm in the same boat. How do we get a Raleigh dealer to check? Seems ridiculous given the amount of trucks low on fluid.

 

I now have an open case with Toyota. My tech also found my timing cover to be leaking. We will double check the timing cover next week. At that point, we will see what is offered. If it isn't acceptable, I may have a 17 Tacoma soon.

 

I wish I had the answer to your question. My previous dealership will blow anyone off with these concerns.

 

Read there's a hole in the control arm that causes that

 

"Did not duplicate" and "normal operation".

 

I have parts ordered to take care of the control arms.

WOW is right... I'll be checking with the GM of my dealership next week (when he returns from vacation) and seeing what my options are trade-in wise to know what I'll need to do. An engine problem and a transmission issue in a vehicle with less than 16k miles is not a good thing.

 

Please keep us posted. I would be interested to know how they treat current Toyota employees. As a past Toyota N.A. employee, I have been very pleased with my treatment.

 

I will definitely update with what my dealership will do for me and what Toyota Customer Care offers. It will be an interesting conversation on Monday.

Part of it is EPA/CAFE regulations but the major part of it is how toyota decided to meet those regulations.

The engine, no matter how much people want to defend Toyota, just isn't ideal for this truck. It is reasonable paired with a manual transmission where I can keep it above 2-2.5k RPM. But pairing an engine, in a truck, that produces max torque at 4k RPM and max hp at redline with an auto transmission that tries to keep cruise at 1000-1200 RPM to eek out every MPG is just ridiculous. Especially with the engine management they have going on at lower RPMs.

 

Fred Anderson Toyota of Raleigh told me they did the transmission tsb, but when I checked the version using a scan tool, it was still the old version. They lie. Also wouldn't plug the control arms.

Hard to prove since he didn't put it on my service ticket. Said he couldn't replicate issues and toyota doesnt like them performi g work without proof, but updated the software anyways (which I never asked for). Should have seen that one for what it was.

For the people that are denied transmission fluid check, it's in the Toyota Care service contract, they kind of have to.
