Speaking of insurance, just got this in an e-mail:


When you receive care from doctors and facilities that are not in the Cigna network (out-of-network), there is a change to how those services will be covered and you may end up paying more out of pocket if you aren’t careful. These services will now be billed as out-of-network services:

1. Out-of-network assistant surgeons and surgical assistants at in-network facilities
   

• For example, if you receive services from an in-network surgeon at an in-network facility, but the assistant surgeon is out-of-network, you will be billed out-of-network for the assistant surgeon
  

1. Anesthesia services provided by an out-of-network health care provider as part of an in-network office visit
   

• For example, if you have a procedure in the doctor’s office and the anesthesiologist is out-of-network, you will be billed out-of-network for the anesthesiologist

They could've paid you $700 to take it, and it wouldn't be a good deal. So did they give you a few grand?

I was told they wouldn't insure a vehicle that has been modified for off-road use.

I've got a call into the local geico office to better explain my situation, how the truck is used, and exactly how it is modified. Waiting for a call back.

If that fails, next idea to research is insure the Subaru with geico and the truck elsewhere. Looks like that will still end up being cheaper.

 

This is one of their loopholes that pisses me off. If the facility has been approved as in-network everyone, everything, and every service in it should be considered in-network as well.
They do similar shit with medications, 3 medications that treat the same illness and only one is approved. Why, because they say so and can't provide any hard evidence beyond "because our in house physician says you need to try the other one first to see if you have side effects". My wife had a med prescribed that had about 1/2 the side effects of another and they would not pay for it stating she had to take the other with more/worse documented side affects. Why? because she hadn't tried it yet. She was told to rule it out first to make sure it didn't hurt her, then they if she has major issues they would revisit whether or not they would cover the original one.

 

I wonder if they're taking "modified for off road use" as a full on custom built crawler.
