There have been quite a few people interested in this DVD NAV unit as of lately so I figured I'd do a video review on the unit that I just installed.

I go through pretty much all the functions and show it in motion. I figured this would be better than just throwing down a bunch of text. Actually seeing the unit perform is worth more than my keyboard could ever tell you so here it is.

PS: I think I recorded in 480p by accident. Good news is it's clear; bad news it takes a while to load. 56k eat your heart out.

I have an Eclipse AVN52D, it's old but I love it. Still performs kick-ass. Eclipse makes great stuff!

Just make sure you do a custom splash-screen! :D

Nice review man. Eclipse makes a nice HU... it's a bummer that they are getting out of the aftermarket car audio business.

I was on the edge about buying this unit or not. Now I have decided, this is the one I'm getting. Thanks for taking the time to put that together for us. Rep added.

I installed this unit last week. It was pretty easy except trying to get it to fit with my metra dash kit. I used the same mounting brackets that came off the factory (6cd changer) head unit. When i put that mounting bracket on the eclipse unit it caused it to be too low for the metra dash kit to mount properly. I had to basically only tighten the upper 2 mounting screws to the tacoma dash and leave the lower 2 screws very loose for it to fit properly. All in all i got it to work but i was surprised by this. Did anyone else have this issues?

Apart from that, i love the unit especially since the parking brake is grounded. Also, if you like driving with your headlights on during the day, i would suggest you NOT connect your illumination wire, or as i did, splice a simple switch in it and put it in an accessible location so it then doesnt blind you at night. In any case, im pretty sure you can change the light settings in the GPS menu itself.

Maybe try using the brackets that came with the mentra kit?I had the Schose kit on mine and didn't have that problem. The kit has top notch fitment and looks great! Eclipse includes a large piece of rubbery plastic that is a surround for the unit. I (using my table saw) cut mine down to the exact size I needed to fill the area between the unit and the Schose kit; looks perfect.

I did my parking brake too *guilty*. You can definitely change the brightness for use at night. The unit also has a special GPS setting for night time that is much easier on the eyes I suspect. I use the normal mode though and just tone the brightness down.

That HU is bad ass! I wish I had the scratch to buy 1 of those. Congrats and great video.
