brisket, ribs are about the only beef we buy anymore. We get enough wild game for ground and loin backstraps.
I used to go to a good steak house every other week when I lived in TX. mostly out of convenience, it was maybe .5 mile from my house...If the wind was right you could smell the steakhouse.

Yep, another example. Chicken wings, I remember a time you could barely give them away. Now days they are priced higher per pound than breast meat. But as long as folks keep buying them, the price will continue to remain ridiculous.

hard to mess up a chicken wing...easy to mess up a brisket. I think food network has changed peoples minds on going out to eat vs cook at home meals.

I was in the same boat when I lived in TX...I had little time to hunt, no place to hunt. Now Im fortunate to have lots of time and places to hunt so I take full advantage of whatever wildgame we can.

Trying to decide if I want to throw my butt on the smoker tonight around midnight or not. I'm worried how much the temps might drop. Don't want to risk running out of pellets in the pellet pooper. I may do it that way I don't have to get up at 3am-4am to do it. lol

I'll take it in whatever form I can get. When I lived in CO, I worked part time at a horse facility with a Mexican or two working there. The ones wife came for a visit and made tamales. He asked me if I liked them....of course. He said he would bring me some. The next day, he shows up with a 18"x18" by 12" deep box full of fresh tamales!!!!!! I haven't had a good homemade one since leaving CO back in 2002!

Do it! But do get up to check her at some point!

I did this once with a butt....woke up to a COLD pooper....temp had dropped quite a bit (for our area at least), and she just ran out. Actually, there was a little left in her, but they had gotten stuck on the sides and didn't funnel into the auger.

Probably could have saved the meat....seeing as how it was still raw and it was that cold out. But I couldn't risk it. When in doubt, throw it out!

The thing is, they weren't fancy. Simple, authentic tamale, but they tasted awesome!!
