So me and @inv3ctiv3 have been chatting for about a week before this trip, But Death Valley was never the original plan. After running about 300miles of Grand Canyon/Parashant I realized I was on the wrong side of the state to drive all the way around to Sedona/Crown King where we originally planned on meeting.

After crunching the mileage numbers and seeing that going around west would be more ideal would land me into Las Vegas, thats when I figured Death Valley is a total possibility especially when I really wanted to run it over a year ago and missed my chance. But I wasn't sure how Jim felt about sudden plan changes or even going to DV in general. To my relief after texted him he hasn't been to the park either so I knew this was the time.

After spending a night in Vegas I met up with Jim in Baker, CA. The trip report can be seen in his thread, Its everything I would have said besides the $100 fill up I paid before heading towards the park :bananadead:

Anyways heres a small photo dump and a big thanks to Jim for joining me on my travels

It's true. Seen 2 of them happen. Both had stock gears though.

Well maybe I should have adding "engine" to the poll.

That's how to cookie crumbles tho, front diff bracket bolts backed out causing it to rotate on one bolt. Diff decided to punch through the engine block. Tomorrow I'll pull the skid and see what I'm getting into before I make a decision on how to move forward.

I wonder if it only went through the oil pan and not into the block. That would be a good gap to get through.

Oil pan or the aluminum price between pan and block.

All I could see was a shiny piece of aluminum looking up through the oil drain hole, kind of above the oil pan and poked it with a long screw driver to make sure it was a loose piece.

Still deciding, I'm almost 90% against swapping the motor out here just because I'm unsure of other possible problems like the front diff if it was damaged, plus I need assurance that it will make it home without a hiccup. Im going to try insurance and see what they say otherwise ill drag it home one way or another.

For shits and giggles whats everyones thoughts on something that can tow well, because if I end up buying another car it needs to tow this bitch back home. So far I'm thinking either 5th gen 4runner, 100 series LC, or a diesel. Im leaning towards a 08-10 powerstroke because it seems to be the best in terms or price/reliability/newer

08-10 is nothing but problems unless it's deleted, then they are phenomenal. 11+ have the 6.7L like mine is the best motor. Next best is 7.3L 99-03

If you can find someone who is driving west they can take my car carrier trailer to you.

You know how to get ahold of me if you want to use this option.
