    Black tacoma.
Really deep and long scratch. Definitely intentional.

Any tips for a cheap DIY cover up?

I'm going to have to smooth it out and fill/ paint it with something.

I'm not sure I want to keep it forever, so I would like to make it look better for future selling purposes.

The bastard keyed it from the front of my drivers side door all the way to the gas tank.
No way I'm going to drop a few grand for a professional paint job.

Insurance? File a claim for vandalism under comp and have a body shop take care if it. Only way to make it 100% right, especially black.

I'll call them and see what they say.

I have it narrowed down, it was either my POS landlord. I don't know what his problem is, but I'm probably going to end up filing a lawsuit against him soon for other reasons.

Or it was some hood rat punks that saw me get out of my truck in uniform.
    I work in law enforcement.

I have no sufficient evidence to prove who it was so I'm not going to be fortunate enough to have anyone reimburse me for the damages.

This same thing happened to my last Tacoma many years ago, different circumstances. Ended up having to sue a girl who wouldn't cough up a few hundred for the damages. I won a claim against her for 3700$

I'm looking to move into a better neighborhood asap.

    I agree, complete trashy move.
I try not to sweat the small stuff, but outright criminal activity always bothers me.

I figure people are entitled to do what they want as long as it doesn't negatively affect others lives.

I'll never understand why people go out of their way to screw other people over.

Any tips on how to DIY cover it up so it doesn't look like complete shit ?

A black Sharpe on it would look better right now:help:

A shop might be able to fill and buff the scratch? It is going to take a pro to do anything better than a touch up job.

That is a wise statement and should never be underestimated, because life is short, with most things being "small stuff".

    Fuck. That sucks.

I own a black truck and know how much of a pain in the ass it is to keep looking nice.

But fortunately I had the "smart idea" to get the first ding and scratch in it before a shopping cart was.

I hope you're able to fix it. But I know you'll always look at the area and it'll bring up bad memories about this whole situation.

    My suggestion: cage it.

You could paint the whole vehicle with bed liner and create an epic thread...

has it dented the metal or just goudged the paint off? Something you could consider i believe they have scratch repair kits. you can fill in the scratch with the kit, then goto toyota and get a paint touch up pen with the exact toyota paint code. When i bought my truck they gave my a little touch of pen. I used it on a scratch through the paint i put in the tailgate and it fixed it almost perfectly, has paint on the one side, clear coat on the other all in one.
