If anyone's interested there's a 4Runner circle jerk tonight at 7 pm at 21001 N Tatum Blvd. Should be an In-n-out parking lot

Sitting at CFA while the kids tire themselves out, making a mess I don't have to clean.

Wifey returns tonight and then I get to go back to work for some p&q. Nothing like a few days alone with a 3,5, & 9 year old to make you miss overdoses, suicides, and nasty car accidents.

I need my electronic guru nerds insight

Got time warner cable internet today and bought the 200 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload. They did the speed test right in front of me with their "Time Warner 2000" speed test app thing. Sure enough 220 down and 25 up speed.

Fast forward 4 hours and did my own speed test through my phone app and my lap top app with results that came to 35 down and 15 up. I'm no mathematician but that doesn't seem like 200/20. Granted their test was direct from the modem to the laptop and I did my test over a wifi router.

    So why the difference?

Did you use speedtest.net and a Honolulu server? Try it against LA as well. Post results

For the LA test, I changed the scale to 300mbps.

I'm using a technicolor Time warner TC8715D cable modem and a NetGear WNR1000v3 wireless router.

Will be updating the modem when we get situated and I can do my research.

Anyone know how big of a deal it is to drive around with a slightly torn CV boot (the boot closest to the engine, but the smallest/narrow end of it) for a couple weeks? I was able to replace all of studs today and don't need a new hub assembly as urgently as I thought. I don't know how to to CVS and would like to order new hub assemblies from BamaToy and do those and CVS on both sides at the same time.

@2ndGenJonny @RPS1030 and anyone else, any input?

Id say youll never see those speeds again and you have no choice cause there is probably no other provider. See they already know about your addiction to porn, theyve got you by the balls.

Cable companies are horrible. All. Of. Them.

Should be ok. I drove with mine ripped for a couple weeks. How much grease if flying out? Can you clean up the rubber a bit and try to put some gorilla tape on it?

Nah I'm gonna do the whole thing new. O Riellys has "Import Direct" brand for $80/side with lifetime warranty and Merle's Auto Supply has them for $65/side with a one year warranty but I'm not sure of their brand.

I oughta be able to clean it and temp tape it, great idea!

Depending where it is the tape might or might not stay.

Make sure there is still grease in it and use gorilla tape to seal it up if you must wait to adress it.

What if you connect straight in the modem and see what you get that way.

    What router do you have?
What wireless bandwidth is your phone/laptop using? G/N/AC/?

My guess is that you are using wireless 2.4ghz which is limited, but should be hitting the 50's down range unless signal sucks. Switch to wireless N you should be hitting max speeds or at least up in the 100's depending on your phone. Wireless AC will give you full range. Best thing to do is test with a wire from laptop to router and see what speeds you get. Then test wireless. If there is a massive difference you have wireless interference.

Also remember if you are paying for 200/20 you might get that or close to it. There is always overhead when dealing with networks. More so when dealing with WiFi.

If you want PM me and I'll give you my number and we can go over it that way.
