What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

They don't look like Nav units though. The button layout is different than what I have. I'll have to message the guy who makes them.

Looks like @JD'STaco has a nav unit with the knobs installed.

 

I would think the buttons would be the same. The only difference in the radio is that you have those buttons on the "bottom" because of the nav, but the top buttons, which are the volume and tune buttons, would be the same.

At least that's what I think.

 

Just trimmed 9" off the antenna so I don't scrape every time I pull into the garage. It's nice having a machine shop at your work.

Very sound logic! I guess on the turd gen the posts are different between the stereos. Maybe the 2nd gen posts are all the same?

Yep, that's it. They should fit. I'm going to place an order over the weekend.

 

Could be true about the 3rd gen thing... possibly. Nothing to lose if you pick up a set and they don't work. Not very expensive and I'm sure you'll be able to sell and get your money back.

 

Thank you so much @nazlax10 for clearing that up. This mod is definitely needed and really useful IMO. I will add this to my ever growing list of mods. Knocking em out one by one.

Today, I bought my second 2nd gen, and it's such an awesome feeling.

 

I have a '15 Nav, and just ordered the part. They should fit. I'll let you know if they don't work.

 

So you eliminate one of your plate lights and just route out a larger hole for the trailer plug?

Did you put in a way brighter LED into the other spot so you don't get pulled over?

 

Did this the other day. Superbrightleds on dome and maps. Maps are crazy bright, dome is so-so, still way brighter than stock.

 

Didn't have to route out a larger hole, just had to trim some of the plastic on the harness itself.

As for the finished light output, it isn't too bad. AZ law says just have to be able to read the lighted plate 50 feet away.
