This maybe my issues. TW is the only provider here and the tech tested at 10 am when kids and families in the neighborhood were gone for the day. I tested around the time everyone was getting home for the weekend. There's several hundred homes in our development too.

Ok than at least hold down option and click on the wireless icon and let us know mode, channel, and speed.

    Hello,

It's not like thye use an artificial speed test. ISP's can only guarantee speed to the modem. That is the purpose of the speedtest he/she did. Proving to you that your modem is receiving the 200. Likely plugged directly into your modem, passing your router altogether.

    Your iphone is using wifi.

Wifi is a frequency in the air.

Therefore it will become weaker through every obstacle and every foot of distance between your device and it.

This is why ISP's don't give a flying shit about your wifi speed. Who knows if you have led in your walls, maybe you put your modem/router in a fish tank, or behind a fridge.

What router do you have? If it isn't a dual band router, throw it in the trash.

The 5ghz wifi band is the only way you are going to get anything relatively close to the speed you are paying for over wifi.

This is because the 2.4ghz wifi (older wifi) is a frequency shared by every single wireless device inside your home, your neighbors, your microwave, literally everything.

So picture a cloud. With 20 devices broadcasting 2.4ghz. Now your phone is trying to hunt for your wifi in the cloud. That's why it is slow.

the 5ghz in dual band routers is currently only used by ISPs, therefore no hunting is involved.

unfortunately both ghz are unregulated by the fcc so nothing stops equipment in the future from using it, and bogging it down like 2.4 is today.

Alright guys coach me up on some light bars! I had a 30" totron stuff behind my stock front bumper.(first gen, yes you can do it with no trimming. Lol) but with my new bumper it won't fit . . obviously rigid is stupid expensive, the totron was plenty bright and held up well.... Is it worth it to pay the 4-500 for some of the bars I'm seeing? I got lucky and got my totron 30" with harness for $100 from a buddy who was a distributor..... The new one will be out in the weather a bit more and I don't want to deal with yellowing lenses etc...

    i'd upgrade it.

your using yesterdays technology and hoping to keep up with todays demand for speed.

it's common for people to buy new phones and pc's, upgrade internet, but then find out that their 4 year old setup can't even support it.

also do research on your house size, speed demand, and tomorrows technology when shopping around. know that just because it says "up to XXXmbps" doesn't mean it can actually do it, or even support it. there's modems all over that say they can support 300+ but cannot support 16 bonded channels, which is what ISPs around here use for 250+. therefore, the modem rejects the bootfile and is a paperweight.

Yah I was late to the game here, but not much else to say that hasn't been said already. Hard wire it, you can't, sucks to be you, check router and settings, it's old replace it with new.

Maybe it's all that Hawaii spam people talk about slowing down the internet...

Damn. Idk someone recommend a quality router that's good enough for 2k square foot 2 story house. Numerous wifi devices running at all times.

Preferably a modem and router combo package so I can stop leasing this modem from TW.

Im not afraid to pay for quality. I think a 30" curved would fit because it will allow me to curve around the grill while pushing my mounting points back so I can mount it on the filler plates of my bumper.

My 30" would fit well if I had a way to make some custom mounts...

Either a double row or single row...

    lmao

    $30 router.

    no doubt it's a pile.

    not to be rude @Islandchick

it may have been ok at one point, but it's just like your phone. you get a new phone every year or two because technology outdates it. same with modems/routers.
