Nothing wrong with the standard poodles. I've got a friend/coworker has one and the dog is way smart. They've been used as Police dogs in Europe. And as opposed to a hybrid you won't have to guess which of the two breed blend will have the dominate traits.

It's a lot of mess and takes up a lot of room and I'm glad I don't have to do it anymore, but there's something to be said about a fire burning in a stove. I don't miss it but, when I go north, it is a welcome feeling. When my wife and I first got married we were renting in her uncle's double wide and all we had was wood heat. I was working ranches at the time and would get up at 0'dark 30 and build the fire up to warm the house up as I was showering and getting ready for work and then she'd get the babies up and going for the day. Stuff like that helps build character and I burned my ass on it a few times trying to towel off and get dressed before the front room was warm, trying to get out the door to work...seems like a long time ago.

jim the best i can figure is we're going to have to wait to see who's serious about coming and then find a ice place that's as centrally located as possible. Either way, the folks from up north, or in your case down south are going to have a trek to get there.

I love the smell of a woodstove but the work it takes and the danger of a fire.

I got Zoie from a breeder when I couldn't find an 8 week old Choco lab puppy - not even the rescues had any and i HAD to have one  Next dog will be a pound puppy, whatever tickles my fancy when it's time. Annie is a rescue puppy and she's a good dog, as long as you aren't a small animal/rodent in my back yard.

Never had a place with a wood stove.... might be nice to have....

Ours chase the fence lizards during the summer...I don't know that they've caught any, but they chase the heck out of them.

Annie chases squirrels and has caught about 10 in her lifetime - that I know of. How many she has caught and eaten, only she knows. Yes, I have seen her eat a whole squirrel :puke:. She also loves moles :puke: Ollie and Annie both chased the lizards @ Johnnie's house out there

I once counted how many times I handled each piece of wood from felling the tree to dumping the ashes and it was around 20 IIRC.

The standard poodle was the original hunting dog, and a versatile dog at that.

Trying to do an online course for photoshop and lightroom with the new versions of creative cloud. But watching the snow fall and keep getting drawn back here like a moth to a flame LOL. Good Evening Susan!

Nothing and I mean nothing warms the body and bones like a wood stove. Sometimes wish it wasn't so but I haven't found it yet. Something to be said for them.

ice place?! You don't really mean that right?! Just picking on you figure you mean nice place and couldn't resist. Likely don't have a dog in the fight especially if it is an ice place :p but maybe NC\SC wouldn't be bad. As you said depends on who is serious. And time of year. Accommodations for those that may not want to camp. And how far they are from "crawling" distance from the central place. Just a few random thoughts.

My son and I are allergic to cats and dogs, the hybrids are supposed to be hypoallergenic. if I could I would have a lab or GS. I grew up around GS and love the breed, but a lab seems to have less medical issues.

Or a cat, always good to have a cat around.

That is a tough one, many of today's cell phone cameras are as good as the cheaper point and shoot cameras. Although my Motorola phone is great in many areas the camera sucks. I will be upgrading when Samsung comes out with the new phones in a couple of months for the camera alone. Not long ago I purchased a $250 point and shoot for something I could throw in my hunting vest and very disappointed. Spoiled by DSLR cameras I have 2 pentax bodies and a number of lenses. It is the glass that makes or breaks a camera.

Not sure what P&S camera would be best now days. I can take a look and see what is recommended but did that for the one I got and not really pleased.

I think many of the cell phones out there today could equal the P&S camera.
