If you want to bugger up the CV more than it is. Ideally you'd fix that ASAP and save the CV. Buy once it's got salt and shit in there may as well, you need a new half shaft anyway.

 

So what's the one to have? Optima worth the coin?

 

I've had them before. I think it's really only worth it since it doesn't spill. The yellow is worth it if you are running multiple accessories since you can run it down and re charge as many times as you want. If you just want a good battery to get you through regular driving any Interstate, Exide, Duralast, Bosch from pep boys, etc will do just fine. I usually just look for higher CCA than factory which isn't hard to find. I'm going to replace my battery soon too..most likely with an exide.

Meh you'd be surprised what these cv's can handle. You won't know what condition it's in till you start rebuilding, but chances are it will be okay if you rebuild it not soon after.

There is an older thread where you pull the actuator take it apart to soldier the pins in the actuator and it fixes the problem. I might give that a try before I drop $300 on a new actuator,

Here's what I dug up.
Front 5100's are a little more expensive. So I'll go $138 on those.

Aw fuck that's no good. It was right about this time of year that mine went a year ago.

Seriously. I was just out in the snow testing & messing around and it's impressive how bad front engine, rwd vehicles are - especially pickups. 4wd makes a huge difference. Nice to have it back. This Winter should be a bit easier than last year...

But rwd makes for some fun ass snow donuts.

 

Shit we have less then a inch but roads in my town were a bit icy. Btw dodge caravans front wheel drive suck and doing snow donuts. No fun
