As the title says I'm doing a jdm swap in my 2003 3.4l this upcoming week went ahead and got a new water pump and oil cooler kit with all new belts off Amazon. Picked up the jdm from JDM king of Houston and it looks pretty clean. Any tips on what to do first? Was wondering also if it would be easier to take off the transmission from under my truck while it's on the lift or take out the tranny and engine together? Keeping in mind that I have a elite off road bumper that might be a little in the way. Also does anybody have a list of everyone that need to be swapped from the American engine to the JDM? Any tips would be great

Never done a 3.4 but have done other JDM engines. You should keep all the sensors off of your us spec engine and plan on reusing your intake and throttle body if past experiences holds true for the 3.4 like it does for the Supra Engines.

Drop the tranny. Ask I've heard there's quite a few differences between jdm and us....oil dipstick being one of them

Think of the JDM engines as more of a long block, rather than a complete engine. Everything from the heads out will need to be swaped over from the original engine. That said, now is the time to replace all the seals/gaskets, belts, pulleys, pumps, etc since you will have easy access. With everything apart you can clean the piss out of things like the plenum and throttle body. Depending on what the JDM came out of, you might need to switch the oil filter location. If you have an oil cooler, now's the time to put new gaskets and lines on it. Also might as well check everything in the engine bay while the motor is out: engine mounts, power steering lines, A/C lines, wiring, etc.

It's just going to be easier my head gaskets are pretty much gone and the current engine that's in it is already a usdm rebuilt 3.4. JDM will just be easier and cheaper.

Dude 60k?! How?! And I think you should sell the truck some trucks are just duds ... other times there's things like OIL AND FILTERS that need to be changed regularly , I had the same engine as you for 300k with nothing but a cracked radiator replaced .... you should rebuild and selllllllll

Sometimes you have a pickup for so long and over the years fix so many things you just can't get rid of it.

Well maybe a jdm engine would be a good idea, you'll start all over,
