Traded my 2016 Tundra on my 2017 Tacoma. The Tacoma fits in my garage, much easier to park, easier to wash, and better gas mileage. Loved the Tundra, but the Tacoma does everything the Tundra did - except tow heavier items. I love it and would definitely switch again if I had the chance.

Just took delivery of a '17 Tacoma SR5 DblCab V6 4x4. Previous vehicles were a '07 Tundra SR5 5.7L 4x4 Crewmax and a '01 Tundra Limited 4.7L Access Cab 4x4. Stepped up to the Crewmax from the Access Cab as we needed more comfortable seating for 4 - 6. No longer needed a truck the size and seating capacity of the Crewmax. Happy with the Tacoma, size wise is similar to the '01 Tundra, but seating in both Tundra's was more comfortable than the Tacoma.

When did the body style change in the old tudras. that went from the size of a Taco the more full size. I want a small tundra or a tacoma with some power. would like the 4.7 v8 but I have no knowlede of them what so ever. any insight out there?

I went from a 2005 2nd gen DCLB to a 2012 Tundra CM Limited to a 2016 3rd gen DCLB. I didn't care for the gas mileage (avg 13 mpg) or the size once I moved back east. Plus, it was a pain in the ass to load my Triumph D675 racebike. I realized I didn't use/need half the capability of the Tundra. I made the switch a few months back and love the Tacoma.

The newer tundra was bigger though?? Like if you had found with a smaller one wouldn't it have been easier to load??. I am curious about the 4.7 engine. is there anything notorius that happens to it?

I had the 5.8L. The older Tundra would have been much easier. The newer Tundra just sat too high in the back for me to load the bike solo and I'm not one to try to "ride" the bike up the ramp.

The 1st gen Tundra's was from 2000 to 2006. Originally Regular Cab or Access Cabs only. In 2004 they introduced a Double Cab. 2nd gen's are available in Regular Cab, Double Cab,, and Crewmax.

I went from 06 Access Cab Tacoma to 07 Double Cab Tundra to 16 Double Cab Tacoma.

Access Cab was too small and only a 4 cyl. Bought it for gas mileage but was just too small.

Tundra was awesome just expensive to maintain and gas was in the $4 range for a couple years of owning which sucked.

Love my 16 Tacoma. Spend a lot of time by myself in it. On the weekends or times when I need to stuff my wife and three kids in it I wish I had a Crewmax! I commute 70+ miles a day so averaging 13mpg vs 19mpg does make a difference.

I remember the older Tundra's. Would you say they are similar in size to our 3 gens minus the V-8 ?

The 1st gen Access Cabs, had similar interior room to a 3rd Gen Tacoma DblCab (but had a rear suicide doors) and a 6 foot bed. Was 5" longer and wider than a Tacoma 3rd gen.

The 2000 Tundra is a softer ride and has more bed room. I sold my 2000 limited for only 3K back in 2008 what a mistake
