what if i want to fill it up w lake water during camping?

 

It's made for water hose/faucet only, unfortunately. It needs pressure in to give pressure out....

But now that I think about it... You should be able to fill it up with a water pump using anything as a water source. It's just a matter of how much pressure your pump puts out. As long as it has more pressure than the built-in membrane, you should be all good.

 

That thing probably works well for what it is- just like the zodi propane shower-
Just wish theyd combine the two.


Does anyone know where to find replacement radiators for second gens? Word on the street is aftermarket ones come with a second port side in them for transmission coolers whether you need them or not because it's cheaper for them to make them all the same.
If that's true and they're fairly cheap, this engine powered shower just got 100 times closer to plug and play

 

Did you try Rock Auto yet? They should have a discount coupon listed in their TW vendor section.

 

Has anyone here used this? How did you mount it? Not to fond of the frame mount, seems kind of an eyesore. Would love to having something like this though for after surfing or after a family beach day. If anyone has installed this, can you post more pictures of it? Thanks!

Guys, stupid question...I've read this post a couple times and see where y'all tap into the output of the heater core hose, but how did y'all plumb the in and out of the heat exchanger into the heater core hose? Did y'all tap the splice at the firewall for the inlet into the HX and tap another location for the outlet? Thanks!

Crom- I've followed a lot of your posts, but I'm sorry I've missed the answer to this one. I pull out the splice and add a tee for the HX inlet, so do I follow that hose to add another tee for the recirc? My apologies if I completely missed it in your suggested links. I found some links close, but not all the way. I guess I need to get under the truck and trace the hot line.

 

I figured it out, but not without help, so I just wanted thank Spencer for all his help on this project!

 

I'm piecing everything together now, and had a question for those with completed setups that are running the thermostatic mixing valve. Did you use a special hose for the heated water coming out of the heat plate exchanger to the mixing valve? Any suggestions on good hose that will be flexible and handle those temps?

Also, do you think I need a hose that can handle heat from the mixing valve to the exit point? Going to try to set mixing valve so the water will be in the 102-105 range. @Spencer @dbrfan @anyone else who has finished this.

It was pricey, but I didn't want to go cheap on this considering the impact if something goes wrong. It's working fine so far.

 

Thanks. I'm wondering if I can just find regular automotive hoses for the coolant to save a little, cause that is some pricey hose.

Did you put the exchanger up by the radiator? I'm wondering if I can get it closer to the heater core so I don't need as much hose (like mounting it near or on the firewall).

Any other input from others is appreciated. I've already purchased the thermo mixing valve, water tank I want to use, and have the pump and plate exchanger picked out, just have to order. Hoping to get this wrapped up in the next month or two.

 

Yes, I put both the HE and the mixing valve in front of the radiator. In my list of mod priorities, adding a winch won't be happening soon. I have a plate bumper, so I used some of the winch area to mount the HE. I'd like to have it in the engine bay, but haven't figured out what I would move to make that happen yet.

 

Oh, and great padding material for pretty much every project is from my wife's old yoga mats!

 

Good idea. I have some left over sound deadener I was going to use. I think I'm going to crawl under the engine bay tonight and see if there are other options for mounting locations.

@tweeek @Spencer; you guys have completed systems, right? I've got everything I need, but I just need to know the hose diameter that goes to the heater core, where the splice is? Is it 5/8? I'm buying a 1/2 to 5/8 inch barbed splice to connect the new hose (1/2") to the heater core hose (that I think is 5/8"). I just need some confirmation from ya'll that have done it.
