The stats I read regarding sudden acceleration is 40% of all reported sudden acceleration last year had to do with Toyota. Toyota is far from 40% of the US marketshare. Ford was second with 28% of all claims.

ywen - "Conspiracy theorists", me, not at all. I am a third generation military man and believe some government activities should not be released to the public (like spec ops items). Do not discuss this here, another thread another time.

I just think that it is interesting that with the percentage of complaints being so low, why is this front page news? This has been a leading story now for what, a week? When was the last time, if ever, that a GM, Ford or Dodge (Chrysler, Jeep, Plymouth), recall was a lead story for more than a day or two? I can't remember any, and I am knocking on the door of being 40 years old.

I have utmost sympathy for those who have lost lives due to Toyota vehicle issues, but this stuff is getting blown WAY out of proportion. Don't you think for a minute that the big 3 "American" car companies are paying big bucks to the news outlets to cover the hell out of these Toyota woes?

I think it is pretty shitty that Ford/GM are offering "incentives" for Toyota owners to trade for their vehicles. Toyota never did that stuff last year when Obama was slinging bailout money around to the big 3.

Speaking of which... remember how many people were pissed off about the bailouts? Seems they forget quickly, as Ford/GM sales are up now. I guess this Toyota recall will really be forgotten quickly after people realize this shit was blown up by the media and that the problems were actually minimal. These guys who are sharting their pants running to the dealer to trade for an Impala will be back in Yoters next year bitching about the Impala being a POS.
