I read on here the manual transmissions themselves (just the tranny) are built in Japan and shipped over. Could be b.s. tho (sounds expensive).

So maybe my sales guy wasn't lying - difference between being assembled in Texas and being built in Texas.

I believe Aisin (Japanese Co) makes the transmissions

They have manufacturing in both Illinois and Indiana. If thats where they are made I have no idea

"placed the order 2 weeks ago" = your name is on a waiting list

Depending on how many people are ahead of you on that list, the dealers have two dates for allocations per month (i might be wrong) and then they might have room for 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 TRD Pro's and THAT is when your actual order gets placed. I'm sure they will call you to confirm your color and accessories without actually telling you what exactly is going on, a half truth.. and then you will eventually get your Pro. Some get theirs in 3 months, others have waited much longer.

venezian is correct. there is no order per se, just a getting in line and hoping that dealer you have will get one. will they? maybe, maybe not. timeframe? you or they do not know.

Aug 26 i put down a deposit for the first white Pro 6MT in the Gulf states, and their allocation schedule for GST showed they were getting the truck in Nov and i was the first in line to grab one. we agreed on the price and they took my deposit. then in Nov Yota changed the allocation schedule and moved the first wave, three Pros, to another dealer. lucky for me my salesman was good friends with one at the new dealer. so i still got the same truck, but had to get back my deposit and reset the sale, and then still wait for delivery. in my case it was 3 mos 1 week.

depending on your plan you may want to connect with other dealers and find out where you can get in line for incoming allocations. you never know how it will go, and i bet getting in line for a 6MT Pro at this point will be busier and slower than it was for me back in Aug. good luck however it goes... maybe it will be just a simple wait for you.

Once the truck is allocated to dealer they can track the vehicle with the temp VIN the truck has been assigned, after the truck is built they can track the truck with the true VIN as it is being delivered.

Try hitting up this TW member:

He has access to national inventory and he may be able to fine you one in your area that is already at the dealership or in the pipeline; you may have to drive some distance, but at least you could get your truck earlier.

I'm honestly in no rush, when it comes it comes, my 2cnd gen is just fine until the new truck rolls in. I know the GSM at the dealer that ordered the truck, he was pretty honest and said 12-16 weeks but in reality it could be sooner or it could be summer!

To be honest I believe not. They give people time frames and they're completly off. From my experience all they know is what number in line you are for example I was 3rd in line for a pro in the dealership I ordered mines.

That sounds about right. Put a down payment on mine at the end of July and just got a build date of Jan 9th. I think MT takes longer though since only 5% of Tacomas these days are Manual.
    I still can't believe it's that low!

Thanks for the video, always nice to see a Pro in action.

Regarding your FAQ, I think that it applies for past year Pros (2015) , since if you click on the color FAQ on the side, it clearly lists colors that are NOT the current model years.

I don't know if Toyota is going to produce these indefinitely, but I'm not gonna take the risk to find out. That's why I have a deposit on one. :D

I trust the Toyota FAQ way more than this dufus.
There's only 6 months left of the production cycle...

Thanks @poopshute, I've had it 2 days and so far it's everything I imagined and then some...super pleased.
@lotuscupcar...thank you for the heads up. Today moisture appeared in both headlight in the same spot. Dealer has two new assembleys coming.

    None.
Salesman there tracked that one down at my request, but it took too long and I found a Cement in the mean time. Bill Hamilton is his name. Best guy I dealt with in the 5 or 6 dealerships I worked with.

A lot of stuff, just ask and I'd be happy to tell you. Or we could wheeling/camping
It's the JL Audio stealth box, you can get it from any authorized JL dealer. I got mine from Soundtronics in Wilmington, NC.

    And it's a 10" with a 600 watt amp

FYI with the pro you're going to have to relocate the motor for the power sliding rear window.
