Like many of you said, if you're keeping the truck as is, and you don't mind spending the money, go for it. I currently have a 2016 Pro 4Runner in quicksand. It's a fine rig but when you start thinking about suspension and wheel upgrades, all you're left with is a unique color and some badges. My local dealership ordered me a pro tacoma and when it came in, I wasn't a fan. In my opinion it was over the top flashy. They pimped that TRD Pro logo super hard. Didn't care for the seats. I had a trd offroad built instead. The money I saved (plus a little more) went towards a new lift, uca's, wheels and tires. And I'm almost positive it'll be a nicer truck

I bought my 2017 TRD OR LB a couple months back. They had a cement grey PRO that arrived with mine. The trucks weren't even listed on the dealer site for sale, they had the plastic all over them. I had the choice of either one. I really like the fact that the OR had the option of a 6" bed, tech package, and sunroof. I paid $38k out the door. The PRO was almost $44k. That difference was noticeable in the monthly payment. I added Bilstein shocks front and rear, added Tibrens in the rear and AAL. For what I do I think the PRO was too much $$. The ability to haul more volume was a great benefit, the TRD OR is just as capable on the trail, and I dont do desert running in the NE so the remote shocks weren't really a big thing. OP do whatever you want its your money but if you are going to leave it stock than go with the PRO but if you want to mod it go OR.

Trust me, when you hit the gas on a truck with AT in S4 then bump to S5, it will give a soccer mom something to think about as you race her to the merge.

they damn sure look better and rims are really juat a matter of what ya like. but at the end of the day with my mods i spent about the same as you will on the pro and i have way more ground clearence with the lift and the 35s i will be upgrading my leafsprings but they are fine for now. . and for you guys who have no desire to mod your OR and we are talking shocks i have ran those on my rock crawlers before an upgrade isnt really needed

Lmao i like the trd pro and will be happy to pull you off that log it got high centered on. im from the desert and had i still love in southern california and all i wanted to do was go 90 through the desert the trd pro would be the way to go. but since i like to go through and over things i am more than happy with the way my truck is built . it boils down to this you want a bad ass stock truck get the pro. you want to modify an OR and have a more versatile truck then thats the way to go. but the fact is and this is hands down a FACT o can go over bigger suiff than the pro i can go through deeper stuff than the the pro and mine is built exactly how i wanted it for the same price as the pro. the only way you can match it is to modify the pro and then what was the point in buying the pro in the first place . love the truck it just has tunnel vision

    You are 100% right

My PRO got high centered at Starbucks this morning

I had to walk home in shame

Get my no woddy limp dick 2incher 2.7L 01 and tow my Pro out

I should just trade my Pro it's not worth it and keeps leaving me stranded at the smallest obstacles !!!

Maybe a 6 inch lift on my Pro like you would solve all the problems ???

Something tells me that 6 inch lifted truck won't ride quite as nice over washboard and rutted roads quite as smooth or as stable as the Pro. Higher center of gravity will induce more motion on irregular terrain but if that's your intent, enjoy. For me I'm pretty happy with the stock height of the truck for 95% of my offroad needs.

Its a stiffer ride but i could have bought the pro shocks then again i guess if i wanted it to drive like a caddilac i would have bought a...... casddilac ? im not knocking your truck i will say i like the pro and i will say this again you can modify a OR better than a pro and spend about the same money . IF you can prove to me. that i cant buy a OR and modify it better than the pro comes stock for the amount i saved with buying the OR you will win this debate. the 6 grand i saved then used to modify the OR could be used to build your OR in to a baja truck. it could be used to build a mud truck a rock crawler or any way you want. you chose to buy one that was modified for you and as long as thats exactly how you wanted it then great more power to you. i personally am more than happy with the truck i built and would put it up against a pro any day of the week

Her thoughts: "Why is that truck back there making such an awful racket? Sounds like his engine is going to explode."

If you're gonna keep it stock, go PRO. If you're going to mod, go OR. I love my PRO. But only thing I might do is put KO2's on it...in a year or so.

Forgot...I did upgrade the stereo knobs from a vendor on this site. Might be the best "mod" I've even done...even better than the bro'est set of bro tires. I highly recommend the new knobs.

Your original post made me laugh so I couldn't help myself. There aren't too many cars out on the road today that I would feel confident racing to a merge point in this truck. If I'm going to commit to that kind of stunt, I want 95%+ certainty that I'm going to win (we could pummel a Prius). I understand your intended point, however, which is that it pulls hard over 4K.
