Left to its own, with my foot on the floor, it will shift up through the gears at 6000rpm. In 'S'mode, if I shift it a 5000 or above, it won't change gears and goes to the rev limiter and then falls on its face.
Anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix?
    thx

...S is for you to shift it....that is why it doesnt shift...you bump it up to go up a gear and down to go down a gear.

Op... If you feel something is not right. Take it straight to the dealer.

That's what the warranty is for.

When in "S" mode you are setting the max gear. It will go to lower gears automatically but not higher gears (S4 means use 1-4). Admittedly I have not tested redline shifts, but I believe it is acting as designed.

The real question is how is S mode actually supposed to work?

    Manual shifting, right?

Does the ECU know you are in S and lower the rev limit for some reason? Limiters are set very conservative anyway, so hitting them isnt really an issue.

I don't know the set point on these, but I'd be ticked if the set point lowered in a different shift mode.

What does the owners manual say about this? I drive a poverty spec so its babied. Unlike the 9k limiter on an S2000

BTW OP... this is your answer. You're trans is functioning as normal it seems... from your explanation.

The trans is not a true sequential trans. It will hold your shift if your foot is on the floor like you said... even if you shift up a gear.

Shifting down is a different story... but the trans is still somewhat fool proof and it will not shift into 1st just because you tell it to driving 75MPH.

I haven't seen an upshift schedule for S-mode/WOT; I'm sure it's along the lines of above D mode upshift/WOT schedule.
I believe it's a range limiter and/or down shifter/engine brake as the above S-mode downshift schedule and owner's manual implies.

OP's probably "shifting" way too early.

Thanks, this is a step in the right direction. The dealer is bullshitting me, telling me there in no 'perrameter' for shift points he can show me.
With my foot on the floor, in drive it, upshifts 2-3-4 right about 6000,
With my foot on the floor in S mode it upshifts whenever I shift it .... BUT ONLY IF IT IS BELOW 5000.... above 5000, it runs right past 6000 and then into the rev limiter (or some other computer restraint), without shifting.
I want to know what it's programed to do in that situation. Someone had to have written some specific code for this. Someone else must have experienced this ...
    thx again

and fuck you other sarcastic assholes ... if that's the way you want it.

I want to know what it's designed to do in this situation. If this is normal, it's wrong - I don't do 'wrong' very well.

Bro...I can't comment on shift parameters but I can tell you that in my 2017 I only drive in "S" mode and I drive it hot. It doesn't always shift above 5k when I slap gears so I just knock that pig over into "D" mode to cool her jets for a sec. Then I slap that mother back into "S" mode, drop down 1 gear and then keep slapping up. My MPG hovers around 10 when I drive like this but I have a warranty

    :burnrubber:

I've been able to chirp the tires jamming 1st to second on almost every shift. You just need to be smarter than the electronics if that makes sense

You quote the OP, and I'm wondering what your point is? IF you are insinuating that I come down on him, then I will tell you that isn't going to happen. OP Had a simple question, and people started being dicks. To add, Ive seen only 2 apologies in the allotted time. Now........me gets to thin the heard for a few days......
